Why people like you and the dozens of others in this thread find the need to do free PR work for Square Enix against your own self interest will always blow my mind.
The product is the game, something we already pay for. I have been subscribed since Heavensward and buy all of their expansions. I even buy their stupid little emotes and some of their glamour items in the store because those are non-invasive microtransactions which I don't mind supporting. But when you take a mount like Cruise Chaser, something that has legitimate arguments for being in the game instead of in the store, of course people will be mad. Nickle and diming a player in a game is always a telltale sign of the beginning of the end, the corporate rot creeping in that will eventually hollow out the passionate dev team. Do you think Yoshi P is getting a big bonus for this stupid mount doing well? Do you think he wants this in the cash shop? No, this is where the big marketing people get promotions for printing money and start to make business decisions that will hurt the game in the future.
This isn't doomsaying, it's logical. This game isn't in decline, but neither was WoW when they introduced the Celestial Steed back in Wrath of the Lich King and I had people like you telling me the same replies, verbatim. "At least it's not a reward from arena, if you don't like it don't buy it." Now look at the state of the game. The marketing types have pushed to the top of the dev team and have now sucked the fun out of it, made players logging in about meeting quotas and statistics, and when people start to drop off because the game is bad instead of improving it they just push 6 month subscription bundles with awesome bundles to print money and people like the people in this thread enable this behavior.
Stop it. Just, stop it. Instead of telling people, "if you don't like the mount, don't buy it," how about if you like the mount and lack the self-control to not have it, just buy it and go away. But stop defending it.
