"There hasn't been any uptick in the number of mounts or glams being put on there."Just going to point out that people have been doom and glooming xivs since it released almost 7 years ago. There hasn't been any uptick in the number of mounts or glams being put on there.
In 7 years. The release cadence is still largely the same.
The sky is not falling.
Also, I own not 1 single Mogstation mount. And won't be buying this one.
Really? I've noticed an increase of the amount of items being put on there, lately.
If you actually look at it though, there hasn't been. They have added items yes, but not more than they have year over year for the past 7.
There are 21 non event mounts on the Mogstation. That's 3 per year over 7 years.
Many of those are recolor of themselves, or mounts already available in game. A bunch are also korean/Chinese exclusives that were brought over on request.
If you take those out? There are 11 unique mounts on the Mogstation. That's it.

1) Inflation: https://www.in2013dollars.com/us/inf.../2010?amount=1 The subscription should actually cost between $18.75 and $20 based on trends from 2010-2021. You're essentially getting $4 free in content every month when compared to 2010.
2) This is a business. The mount is much-desired. The cash shop has been around the better part of a decade. There's nothing new going on here to legitimize this level of QQ from the community.
3) If it isn't about the money, then it isn't about anything. Buy it, or quit wailing about it.
I have no issue with the cash shop existing. I've bought mounts, glams, dyes, emotes, you name it. But I wanted CC to be something that would take work to obtain. I was looking forward to spending the next few weeks grinding out some crazy achievement to get it. Now I know anyone can get it just by spending a bit of money, there's no interest for me any more.
Twintania: I'm ok with recruit-a-friend campaigns, as an incentive for bringing more people into the game. You don't need to buy them their copy of the game.Twintania, Odin, the dreadnought, ADS. None of these are available from the content they were created for.
1 is cash shop, 1 is recruit a friend, and the others are pvp. Which has nothing to do with them, and 1 of those will be impossible for 99.999999% of the playerbase to acquire, since only 100 per DC are able to get it.
Why are we locking beloved raid mounts behind pvp? Where's the rage threads over that?
Sleipnir: Where did I say I agreed with it? Just because I didn't single it out doesn't mean I'm ok with it. It's among the sack of cut content I don't agree with being part of the store. Jus like the chocobo carriage, that's one of the very first things you see in the game (depending on your starting city).
The pvp mounts: I don't see a problem. Yes, ideally you'd want a mount that's a raid enemy to be obtainable through raiding, but I'm ok with it being a reward in other content as long as you obtain it by playing the game. And pvp is an aspect of the game they have a lot of trouble getting the community to play, so I'm all up for them using incentives like these to keep it alive.
The other thing you're not considering is that most of those enemies (save for the dreadnought at least) didn't have such a long wait as Cruise Chaser did to get turned into a mount, so expectations weren't as high (not to mention some of those enemies arguably weren't as impactful in the game as Cruise Chaser was).

Naoki Yoshida:
Source: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/113554 at 1:14:22...Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.
Cruise chaser has less of an impact for me than the dreadnought, and the dreadnought released roughly 3 years earlier and is limited in number. My coil raid group will never be able to obtain it as a mount.Twintania: I'm ok with recruit-a-friend campaigns, as an incentive for bringing more people into the game. The dreadnoughts used to give me anxiety when they spawned in t4. I had a strict CD rotation for dealing with them.. Cruise chaser was just a boss with slightly annoying mechanics in savage and a wipe fest in normal dealing with new players.

That's just speaking strictly mounts. If you actually look at it though, there hasn't been. They have added items yes, but not more than they have year over year for the past 7.

If we acknowledge corporations are greedy, which they absolutely are. And not just in the gaming industry. What makes you think they would offer these mounts or any of the cash shop stuff for free? They have zero incentive. What would happen if there wasn't a cash shop is most of these items wouldn't exist. They might bring out the occasion unique mount per expansion and lock it behind a tedious grind to incentive dead content but that's about it.Not the point. And is indeed a principle, ideological and political stance against microtransactions in general - That the industry is a shit hole of greedy corporates doesn't justify anything.
And they haven't done that not because the inflation, lmao, they would just lose way too many subscriptors if they did - thus not worth it.
The willing blindness, amazing.
This isn't defending Square Enix but simply acknowledging how the industry works.
"Stand in the ashes of a trillion dead souls and ask the ghosts if honor matters."
"The silence is your answer."
It's about NOT BEING ABLE TO EARN IT. Paying money for it isn't earning it, it's buying it. I don't care if it's 1€ or if it's 200€, the thing is this is content that you should be able to accomplish.1) Inflation: https://www.in2013dollars.com/us/inf.../2010?amount=1 The subscription should actually cost between $18.75 and $20 based on trends from 2010-2021. Last edited by Pelletier; 08-14-2021 at 05:29 AM. Reason: "be be" typo
There are only 6 non event, non Korean/chinese, non npc outfits
(male/female sets where applied)
There are 2 recolors of in game sets (the ishgardian ones)
90% of the outfits were prior event items if you were playing when they came out.
