High frame rate definitely has something to do with it (none or 144). If I turn it down to 76 it's more stable and doesn't reboot immediately with dx11 enabled. However after extended play (1-2 hours?) during some cinematics it would reboot.

There has also been some issues with a fairly recent Windows update which can cause low framerates, stuttering, and crashes on SOME systems running SOME software. There was a voluntary hotfix that has had varying amounts of success in repairing the issue. IIRC it had something to do with Game Mode (Turn this off, really seems to do more harm than good in most games), the fix is scheduled to be in the next update I think.

Hi, install KB5004296 via Windows Update. It should appear as an optional update. This update fixes several issues with gaming.
Cheers

I ran across this last week (game mode) and did turn it off to test. There has also been some issues with a fairly recent Windows update which can cause low framerates, stuttering, and crashes on SOME systems running SOME software. I'll look at the "KB5004296" fix listed and see what I can find. I tend to apply all updates so if it's been released I should have it. If not, ill grab the pre-release.
I ran a stress test/benchmark (using 3dmark) and it ran entire process w/o issue. I tried the Endwalker benchmark (same engine as game), it made it about 1/4 way in before rebooting.
Thanks for the suggestions. I'll keep digging.

Also ensure you have all overlays turned off. Personally I've never had an issue but SE always maintains that Steam, Game Bar, NVIDIA overlays etc all can cause issue. Here's hoping you can figure it out.

That was one of the first things I tried, unfortunately ;(
I've been doing some reading online for generic 3090 issues and there seems to be some that have issues with various PSUs with the 3090s due to power requirements. I've tried a few tools to undervolt but doesn't seem to help.
Now, I am not sure why other games do not trigger this issue but it seems a viable cause so I've ordered a new HX850 to replace my thermaltake 850. There are reports of various PSUs having issues (tho I couldn't find anything specific to mine) ... so I am hoping this is the cause. If that doesn't fix this I'll just have to deal with dx9 and 32fps in full screen mode I guess until the support folks respond to the ticket.

I've heard of this too, specifically with the on board VRM's and Capacitors, didn't know about the PSU issue but it doesn't surprise me with that card. That seems like one of those things that FF shouldn't affect but, this game is weird in that regard. That was one of the first things I tried, unfortunately ;(

Following up on this incase anyone else has this issue and runs across it on a search.
Replacing my thermaltake 850 with a Corsair HX850 corrected the problem.
Before I swapped it out I tried my daughters video card (3080) and it also would reboot during a Endwalker benchmark run just like a 3090.
Good luck!
