Im kinda mixed on 14's community, there is some really nice people who are kind and very helpful , even some funny people I can joke with and make lasting friendships with.
But at the same time this game's community doesn't wanna handle conflict well at all, instead of solving it themselves like an adult they just think OMG I gotta report him or her they said something I don't like or there fc tag offends me.(lol even though they aren't even in that fc or have anything to do with that fc).
All in all it's a really great community but at the same time could be less kindergarten when it comes to conflict management.

"this games community" is rather a broad brush you are painting everyone with. if someone is being offensive, what is the point with trying to reason with them when you can report and let a GM determine if the behaviour is allowed or not. has little to do with being in kindergarten and more being able to follow the rules set out by the guidelines. it has more to do with trying to NOT escalate a situation. I personally will generally blacklist and move on, I dont often care about fc names but if someone clearly has an offensive name, I might report that. but generally, I simply dont care. but I do follow the rules. call me a child for doing so, but they are what I agreed to, what all of us, agreed to follow.Im kinda mixed on 14's community, there is some really nice people who are kind and very helpful , even some funny people I can joke with and make lasting friendships with.

I for one, am happy they are enforced.
There's negatives to it and I've noticed an uptick in it lately.
But it's still miles ahead of basically any other games I've played imo.
Considering the levels of toxicity on the internet and in other games FFXIV is incredibly calm.

The reality is that there is no solving things when people are being toxic, no one ever gives ground online or admits to being wrong.
Peoples egos are magnified by a billion on the internet.
Are you really going to sit here and pretend like conflict solving is an actual thing on the interwebs?

Spend a couple of weeks in WoW watching chat in a major city and/or running random dungeons. You'll understand the enthusiasm.
yes we have an amazing community. but we ar ealso too proud about... not much. and tend to be too critical about people criticizing ff14
I really don't see this at all when it's in good faith.
Only time I see people getting upset about it is when it's clearly in bad faith and people who haven't played the game or are just hating on it on purpose.
People here and on the reddit criticize the game all the time, the difference is where it's coming from.
If someone isn't even giving the game a chance at all and/ or are just talking out their ass then I think calling them out on that is justified.

The fact is that most of us are adults, and many of us are parents or even teachers in real life. The last thing we want at the end of a long day of mature conflict resolution is to log into a game to engage in even further conflict resolution. So of course we're inclined to delegate that dirty work to the people who are actually being paid to do it. As for offensive FC tags, you get what you're asking for if you're reported for an actionable offense. You talk about solving problems "like an adult," but deliberately picking an offensive FC name is about the most childish behavior there is. You don't need to be in the FC or be associated with the FC to have the tag staring you in the face, so I'm not sure where you were going with that excuse. No one ever got actioned for being a nice person in this game. Just be nice. But at the same time this game's community doesn't wanna handle conflict well at all, instead of solving it themselves like an adult they just think OMG I gotta report him or her they said something I don't like or there fc tag offends me.(lol even though they aren't even in that fc or have anything to do with that fc).

I joined in BC. I played WoW every single day I could, for years until late WoD. Even then, I still get on sometimes to play, I've still pre-ordered every single expac. I can say that I've been around on there for a pretty long time.
So, you can't say I hadn't seen trade chat, and I hadn't dealt with people in dungeons. So... Where's this large amount of toxicity I'm apparently missing that makes wow so horrid and ffxiv so great?
The actual, literal difference, is WoW doesn't try to loom this idea above your head that giving advice is a cancerous sin that'll get you yeet deleted from the game. I get it's just my opinion, but a community afraid to speak is not a good community, it's a quiet one.
But what do I know, I'm just the guy playing the literal worst healer in the game on a race that gives no benefits to said class with practically no curve achieves, yet having no problems getting into parties for whatever I've tried to join, and have been complimented on my ability to play my class despite those shortcomings of it.
Oh, also, if you wanna talk trade, have you seen some server's NN? Zalera's even has a rep for spouting racist, homophobic, and sexist crap with no GM's intervening. It's weird, community's scared to speak up because GM's, but GM's also show time and time again not to do much of anything unless they personally take offense.
