Pretty much. The removal of the mentorship would be best for this game, and if there are mentors who don't want to do extremes in 'mentor' roulette, maybe they shouldn't do it, and perhaps reevaluate being a mentor in the first place.Rather than removing Ex Content, SE should rework the current mentor system completely.
Its kinda unreal, that mentors are mostly known as the worst and most toxic players in the FFXIV community. The beginners chat is full of useless smalltalk, misinformation, spoilers and even scam links (happened a few weeks ago).
Of course, skilled and helpful mentors also exist. But they are pretty rare.

Yes, waiting for hours, since no old player wants to do that old content for free.
And you also could say it otherwise.
There is enough roulette content that you can do that grants you bonus stuff for selfish purposes.
If you as a mentor complain about "mentoring" than you maybe also better should question yourself if you have the unselfish mental spirit that a true mentor should have.
Mentoring isnt there for granting you selfish bonus stuff in the shortest/most efficient time as possible.
Thats not what mentoring is about. Its about the unselfish support of other new players in any regards.
Its not about efficiency and its not about time. Like in an NGO.
If you dont feel it - mentoring is maybe not for you. ("Party finder exists" tells me you probably don't)

I can't even be a mentor yet. You're barking up the wrong tree.Yes, waiting for hours, since no old player wants to do that old content for free.

Telling sprouts to use PF and/or find a community catered to their needs is mentoring. That's how harder or unpopular content is done in NA and EU.Yes, waiting for hours, since no old player wants to do that old content for free.

Mentors are here to help and teach how they see fit, not bend over backwards to carry the chainpulling GLD or the curebot who never opens the chat in Ramuh EX.
im baby
Can we delete mentor while we're at it?
Problem is when how they see it fit is wrong so frequently.
It's kind of a meme for good reason tbh.
It hurts my soul to see people blurt out random advice when they clearly don't know just for the sake of giving advice.
Bad advice = worse than no advice at all.
Tbh I don't think that people can be trusted with '' teaching how they see fit ''.

Remove Astrope. Problem solved.

damn, again. well im with this. remove them. thing is they can add second mentor roulette for only exs. it would fill with a pro people who are saying how toxic mentors are. and no, its really not about mount or anything. when you dont know what to do, you dont want to do regular roulettes, you will pick mentor roulette to help people with queue , not to enter ex trial where sometimes you get people they dont know what to do / can be also you who dont exacly dont know whole fight.
tho i always love how no mentor enter these threads giving their tip and ideas how mentor system is bad

There are mentors or at least there were in the past that would dip out of things that were not the easiest of fights just so they could get another notch in their belt for the mount. There's also mentors that will leave after one wipe. Which sure, you can find that in a PF.damn, again. well im with this. remove them. thing is they can add second mentor roulette for only exs. it would fill with a pro people who are saying how toxic mentors are. and no, its really not about mount or anything. when you dont know what to do, you dont want to do regular roulettes, you will pick mentor roulette to help people with queue , not to enter ex trial where sometimes you get people they dont know what to do / can be also you who dont exacly dont know whole fight.

Mentors and non mentors both have over the years have suggested things to try and improve the system. Normally through adding in more gates in getting the crown. Part of the problem is part of the player base thinks mentors should know everything and should be good if not great at every aspect of the game. That a mentor will always be in the best of moods.
Then there's mentors who have become burnt-out from the rest of the community and don't teach due to the various bad apples.

People who say PF exists, sometimes I wonder if they were around during 2.x.
DF was always been the way we used to do "hard" content back then. When coil became unlocked from being forced to gather as a raid group at Wineport, people queued for it in DF.
Even in 2.5, people queued for Shiva EX, that was the way to do it. We'd get new and cleared people all the time. Success rate was pretty good. I'd queue for Shiva EX every morning to help and farm a few clears.
If anything mentor roulette is re-living that same experience. So that is why I don't make a big deal about it, sometimes some parties won't be successful and that's okay. If it ends up being learning, the next time those 6 or so people uncleared queue, they will help the next party or learn to do better.
But saying PF exists is kind of ignorant, people want to do content the way it was when it came out. Probably more so because of asmon and the likes thirst for not having a push-a-button-to-clear attitude.
Personally I'm fine if they make the hoops larger, because it's usually a trade mentor that is the problem. The requirements for the hammer are too easy versus combat.
Even then they should continue making it a ladder going forward so people just don't park on the minimum achievements.
Old ex trials are really easy to clear, I prefer them over a long dungeon.
I would add a "mentor roulette extreme trial" version though, which should allow duo queueing with a mentor friend. Would be more fun that way and easier to beat an ex trial too. Often you only need 1 tank and 1 healer who know their stuff.
