    I’ve said this in other posts, but a really big thing that needs to be done is a unification of the different symbols/hazard markers.

    Like the the orange “gather together” or “run away” which are very intuitive… but in Heavensward there was a particular slime-throwing dinosaur (Myath in Sohm Al) that depending on the slime color meant run or gather to the target player. The indicators are just the generic red and blue arrows.

    I get some fights needing to be more cinematic, and that some creatures simply don’t have indicators at all like cyclops…but there are many cases where markers are used and better choices now exist.

    They clarified in the 6.0 digest in this month's Live Letter that they would be adjusting the effects of gear progression from 50-80 (they included 50 this time but you're right that they said 51-80 back in February) and adjusting the rest accordingly.

    They further explained that fights will feel the same at the item level they were designed around but overgearing won't provide as much of a difference. The example given is fighting Diamond Weapon at i500 will feel the same as now but fighting it at i530 won't be as much easier as now. This will possibly effect the difficulty of 50 content like ST as a large part of that is how much we overgear it.

    The likely reason they aren't touching sub 50 content is because, with the exception of a couple of sets the are a couple of ilevel higher, gear generally has an ilevel the same as it's equip level, so it has a much steady stat growth rate. It doesn't have as much impact on the issue as higher levels.

    Old content no longer being faceroll easy due to being carried by high ilvl capped player in roulettes is probably going to be a culture shock for some of the more vocal "but the game should be easy" crowd. If this brings back actually having to do mechanics in raids like CT, it's going to be a good chuckle.

    Yup, I doubt it'll reach the levels of Labyrinth or Syrcus when they were new but it'll be intersting to see. First two Bosses of ST in particular. I've seen some newer players (understandably) refer to Scylla's Daybreak as an enrage.

    Normals are not meant to be hard anyway, but I agree that they should balance Extreme and Savage when on Minimum IL No Echo.

    Especially ARR, because this is not balanced the way it used to be. Titan Unreal was harder than Titan Extreme because Titan Extreme didn't last as long with all the changes, like potency buffs, replacing Accuracy with Direct Hit, replacing Parry with Tenacity which increases damage and things like that.

    You can out-balance old content with level 80 food that gives you a lot more vitality and substats and damage potions that last for 30 seconds instead of 15.
    Let's be real-- the ONLY reason Titan (Hard) and (Extreme) were even REMOTELY difficult wasn't because of the dps checks or dps in general. It was because that fight had SO MUCH lag that dodging a stack of plume puddles or the three way landslide was near impossible. Definitely should bring that back for the challenge. XD

    The flip side to your argument is that new players get angry and frustrated and quit.

    I'm kind of glad we can outlevel things. I've been taking an alt through HW and I was very happy that the Vault didn't behave like it did on launch when I had a DPS who kept wanting to hug the tears. The Vault was a healer check and VERY unforgiving until we started to outgear it.

    Shinryu was another block. There was massive outcry against it. SE didn't change it. What happened there is that those who were able to clear it and get the gear that was locked behind finishing it helped others get through it. I voluntarily ran that instance constantly when it came out to give PUGs a reliable healer to get them through. But it's nowhere near an ideal situation that a player's progress through the basic main story is at the mercy of the generosity and understanding of others. I can't tell you the number of times I saw people dip and helped put groups back together from the one or two poor new people who got left behind. Titania seems to be the ShB one everyone hates.

    The only new person I've personally ever see complain about the length of the fight was someone in my FC so we tried to adjust and run content in a way that allowed her to participate. A lot of new folks in PUGs I run with are just trying to follow everything and at least haven't voiced complaint if something goes fast or smooth.

    And that is alright. For the tutorial zones. Not for endgame content 60 onwards at least. Majority has to suffer due to the vocal whiners who don't want to put any effort in. Once again, this game really lacks any kind of content between normal which even an brain damaged monkeys can finish and the extreme content.

    I didn't have much issue with that. I think people also didn't understand how damage checks were applied either.


    This was the beginning of "cast bar matters" for dodging mechanics, and people tended to go off animations, as well as it being still early 2.0, when people were all still noobs.

    Aether DC had tons of issues with Titan hard and extreme afaik. Everyone read their tool tips back then (unlike most people not doing so now days). But that lag in titan was brutal af

    I was on aether. On Balmung in fact. I never really had lag issues in titan hard, and I did all of my relics lol.
