So basically OP- streamed so he could criticize the game.

Then came to the forums and whined that people were criticizing him.

Because he thinks he should be free to give criticism yet immune from getting it?

Piece of advice- if you don't want to hear others opinions, don't give your own. He's free to hate the game, and insult the community as much as he wants... but turning around and crying that the community's giving it to him back is pretty absurd. Like, with the language and treatment of others he's giving- he clearly was looking for a fight.

He's just being a soft skinned hypocrite right now. When someone gives well reasoned, polite and rational feedback whether negative or positive and gets people dunking on them, sure, I think the community can step out of line- but in this case? He came looking for a fight. If someone enters a bar and starts cussing out the biggest guy there then gets laid out- not gonna feel bad for him. If someone comes into a game with the sole intent of dumping on it because they think they can ride the current trending wave- and gets called out, not gonna feel bad for him. He reminds me of modern games journalists that rip apart or praise games when it's clear they've read a synopsis and not played more than an hour of it because they care less about games and more about having a platform to talk about how tolerant they are for loathing x group of people.

There's nothing wrong with being a low skill level boostie like this streamer, there's plenty of room in gaming for players of every skill level... but if you stream, call others names, act like you're god tier when you're sub-sprout, and then declare FFXIV too hard and bad because you can't handle it... well, you're on social media, where people get ripped apart when they've done nothing to deserve it, and you've intentionally gone out of your way to deserve it.

Um I don't think people care about criticism. I more care about how the cult acts like they are offended and go on twitter to attack him personally because the guy does not like the game and did not play it right. I'm just like who cares if he did not, or used his platform to spread hate. Like let him, it was fun to watch his video, and watch him play. That is it.

As you say, who cares if he liked it or not- but by that same vein of thought, who cares if random people didn't like his criticism? If you're here saying you think it's fine that he criticized the game, whether he's right or wrong about it- I agree, anyone can critique the game whether they've played it or not.

But, if you're also going to turn around and say the opposite, that other people shouldn't be allowed to then criticize him or his criticism? Why the double standard. He is just as open to getting criticized as he is for giving it. People have the same right to be offended and bash him on twitter as he does to bash them on twitter/twitch. He doesn't have to like the game, he can boost and skip the story then whine about it if he wants, he can brag about being a top notch player then stand in mechanics and die then blame healers for his own awful skill level if he wants... and other players can call him out for it if they want.

He's a professional (afaik he makes money to do this, making him a professional), part of his 'job' is playing/critiquing games in public- in turn, he's open to critique himself, especially when he acts like he's a god then can't figure out utterly mundane things like 'if I take more damage than my max health, maybe I should not trash the healers'. If he posts on twitter and has some really bad takes- why would people not respond to his terrible takes by calling them out? It's really obnoxious seeing people defend guys that act like he does and saying they just shouldn't get any pushback because it's ok to have an opinion as a streamer- you've every right to be as wrong as you want on the internet, and everyone else has that same right to tell you so.

His opinions aren't any more sacred or protected than those of the people against them.

As for twitter- this is the FFXIV forums, not twitter- people here aren't the ones responding to him on twitter, they can't control what happens on twitter, and many of us don't use twitter. As far as I've seen- most people on the forums are calling him out for things he did, I don't really see a problem with that. I'd rather have that then a community that bows to streamer whims because they huff and complain about gatekeeping every time their bad takes aren't treated like gospel.

Strongly suggest you hover over some of the names on Twitter hammering him as a lot of them play other games and are dying laughing at him. Quin might be big as a variety streamer but truth be told I had NO CLUE who he was until I saw him in the FF14 Twitch directory one day.

This is mostly a reddit driven bash fest because once his post is put into the context of reality the guy become a prime candidate for roasting. It is like SodaPoppin having such a major issue with a Fountain to the point he bans people who call him SodaFountain now.

All of this stuff is a character these Twitch streamers put on to entertain people and start drama so they can get some clicks. It is 100% intentional the way it is worded.

And this is exactly why this needs to stop, in the end it only makes the FFXIV community look bad on the outside.
Meanwhile he only wins because he becomes the talk of the streaming community aswell as the victim in this scenario.
