Viera and Hrothgar Megathread

I don't see how it's 'petty'. It's a personal preference. I didn't want them to go in such a direction but they did and it is what it is. I most certainly aren't going to lose any sleep over it, though it does make me raise an eyebrow that niche aesthetics are actively embraced often for male characters whereas we still haven't had any of the conventional requests for character customisation embraced and added to the game.

Namely stubble for Midlander men and the other playable races that could make it work.

Not that it matters but I'm six foot two myself. I like playing tall men in games with character customisation.

Niche aesthetics tend to get more embraced because they are niche, they rarely happen thus when they do happen people gravitate towards them as more interesting, you could probably count on your hands how many MMOs have a single race of theirs have the max height male be shorter than the max height female, it is very uncommon to have such a thing.

6ft 1in is not considered short in the majority of the world flat out a max height Male Viera would be considered tall worldwide just in the fantasy world of FFXIV they are shorter than than half the other male options but still taller than Midlander which you seem fine with so this whole height thing really does seem petty when it is the actual aesthetics of the race as whole that bother you and not the height itself.

And you know what, that is a fine preference to have.

But you dismissed male Viera on their height and that is what people find petty about it.

Also I too hope they add more beard and facial options because I find FFXIV is laughably lacking in that department compared to everyone else and it feels worse when they advertise the game with a character who has stubble we can't even use >_>

(I'm 6ft 1in and would be considered tall as well and yes I too prefer men taller but I have always been open to shorter men as well because variety)

Yeah, this is how I feel about it as well. It's not that I have a problem with their preferences. It's that they dismissed male viera based on a difference of 2 inches, when they are already tall to begin with. To me that is petty, and that says that they weren't that interested in them at all to begin with.

Again, it's a personal preference. We can agree to disagree on the matter but people are allowed to have their own personal tastes.

I did my part to push for male viera to conform to the aesthetics I favoured. It didn't pan out and as I said in a prior post, it is what it is. I'm not going to pretend to care for how they turned out, though. I'm glad they were added but they're just not to my personal tastes in their current form and as such I have no intention of playing one.

Now that they're around, though, hopefully we'll get some additional customisation options for the older playable races. They're looking a little dated at this point in time.

It just strikes me as a strange thing to pick apart. Each to their own, though!
