I'm sure that happens, but on the flip side FFXIV has carved its own niche and become very successful for being what it is -- we don't need to draw in every single player, and absorb every feature that other popular games have adopted. We need a game that knows what it's about and is exceptional at it without compromise -- being competitive does not have to mean desperately copying what every other game does. You don't beat World of Warcraft by trying to be World of Warcraft, because we already have one of those and it's already the winner of that competition.

There's a ton of buzz about Asmongold trying FFXIV, and he is more than welcome to try it. I honestly hope he enjoys the game. However, I also honestly don't think he will enjoy the game because it doesn't seem like it's his kind of thing. He cringes at the aesthetics and the music, he doesn't seem to be interested in story, and basically it seems like what he wants is just more hardcore WoW raiding. Should FFXIV change itself to be more in line with what he likes, just because he is a popular streamer with a lot of clout? I don't think so, and I doubt he'd think that either.

I would rather FFXIV be the best FFXIV and the best MMORPG, not the second-best WoW.
It's silly to think someone with the experience of a decade in another game can't offer feedback that could improve this game. So yes, XIV should change itself to be more in line with what someone like that would think, carefully, because it should be the best game XIV can be for everyone and not just a very cordoned-off niche that has happened to find their perfect place.

That mentality of ignoring the outside world is what gave us the disaster of 1.0.

They said that's what they're doing with the new PVP mode for Endwalker.

He can offer feedback, and it would be added to the ever growing list of feedback that the FFXIV devs have. That doesn't mean the devs should align the game to him.

Yep! Just as i stated. So open world PvP is totally on the table! Players are getting their discount Stardew Valley, so I'd like to see the request for open world PvP actualized.

So in your perceived value structure, changing the way the entire overworld works is exactly the same as another compartmentalized piece of content being added and deserves the same "a few people asked, maybe we should do it" attitude?

"Discount Stardew Valley" is just letting every player have something that currently only people who own houses can have. Having open world PVP gives many people something that they have not asked for and have no need for and have no advantage and gain no advantage from.

Open world PVP isn't really casual friendly. In fact, it's really no one friendly. I'd rather they never even consider adding it to the game. It doesn't have a place here.

I'm still not sure whether there is housing feature with this content. It might work more like WoW's garrison, if there is even a building structure.

I expect it to be several garden plots similar to those found at housing exteriors, but with better scenery, and obviously some sort of new gimmick to it so that housing gardeners want to do it, too.

The issue wouldn't really be with his level of experience, but rather with whether or not his clout would grant his opinion sway. Even people with loads of experience have terrible opinions and ideas. There's no certainty that just because an individual is experienced that they know what's best.
