Thoughts on the races.

[Kobalos]

Elezen - Tall graceful and likey to sweep you off your feet
Hyru - What they lack in ears horns and tails they make up for by the size of their character
Lalas - Sweet potatos that should be gifted cookies and headpats
Miqo - Cute kitties that deserve all the ear scritches (the ear wiggles always make me squee)
Roe - Big ol softies that just wanna hug everyone
Aura - Noble warriors with courageous hearts
Viera - Fierce defenders of the wood also like ear scritches
Horthgar - Similar to roe they are big fluffy kitties!

Basically I like all the races and all have their place in the world of Eozea

Hyur - They're ok but I spent years playing a human race in FFXI, so not one of my first choices.

Roegadyn - I only play female characters and my main was originally a Seawolf when I started playing but it turns out I really dislike towering over everyone. Other players also had a tendency to be less friendly toward me, as a Roe. Aesthetically, I like them.

Miqote - This is my main. The males are often pretty, which isn't my thing, but overall I like them and I feel (the girls anyway) are a nice median race. Not extremely tall or short, not too muscular or too waifish. People treat me like anyone else, on this character.

Lalafell - My overall favorite to play and probably the race I would have started as, given hindsight. Running around as a tiny doll-like person is just a lot more fun than I ever anticipated. Simply being a Lalafell attracts attention from people, though, and while it is one of the things that can make playing one more interesting, I'm not always in the mood.

Elezen - I like them, it doesn't hurt that to me they have the most attractive males but I enjoy playing my Elezen girl. Both genders allow for more expressive facial features than any of the other races. For the most they appear engaged, rather than perpetually in the grip of one specific emotion or mood.

Au ra - I like the males ok but not the females. The girls are waif-like to an extreme and tend to have a haughty, disdainful look. The guys usually just look severe or annoyed. They both get nice horns and scales, but this would be my last choice to play.

Viera - A little heavy on the stereotypical "bombshell" for my taste but I created one, just to try out the race. They're alright, once I got past feeling that she'd be more at home in the Playboy mansion. Still a little over the top for me but not exactly bad.

Hrothgar - I like them a lot but I'm not sure whether to be excited or scared of what the females will look like, assuming we get them.

The only time I get attention is when I say something outrageous in shout chat. Otherwise, I'm just dancing on top of one of the light poles in Gridania.

Hyur: A bit too "boring" for my taste, particularly because I already roll one IRL. Highlanders are great, but the guys desperately need eyebrow options without resorting to makeup.

Elezen: Never understood why the girls only have two faces (only difference between the four is the makeup intensity?). I wish they had slightly better proportions as their heads/faces seem too small for their bodies otherwise I wouldn't mind them as much. Also the male animations are really stiff.

Miqo'te: The race I first started on, though that changed when I started playing more and more on my Xaela alt (now my main). I like them fine.

Roegadyn: Overall I wish they resembled more like the Galka in XI (especially the guys), rather than just being overly muscular humans. The ladies are absolutely gorgeous though.

Lalafell: I wish people weren't so weird about them. They are adorable and are fun to dress up like dolls.

Au Ra: Love them. Wish the females weren't so small in comparison (it makes even less sense with the Xaela).

Hrothgar: Limited customization bums me out, and I also wish they weren't so chunky looking and were leaner like the Ronso they were based on. I have high hopes for the ladies if they're basing them off the Roe model though.

Viera: Excited for the guys to come out, but again the limited customization is a bummer. I am very iffy about their lore.

Elezen, Roegadyn, and Viera: They’re okay as NPCs, but I just don’t particularly like playing really tall characters. For some reason they just feel really slow and awkward to me when they run, even though I know it’s the same run speed as every other race. I like the look of the fem Roes but just didn’t enjoy it very much when I tried playing one as an alt.

Hyur: I generally don’t pick humans in MMOs since I already am one every day anyway, lol. The female Highlanders look cool though so I guess I would potentially play one.

Lalafell: Too short and overrated. They have some funny emotes, granted, but I wouldn’t want to be one.

Au Ra: I really like the way they look a lot, especially the eyes. I do wish there wasn’t such a huge height and body difference between males and females though.

Hrothgar: I love the big pettable kitties but I dunno if I’d play one just because the customization options seem a bit too limited compared to other races. Also big cats with hats would be nice.

Miqo’te: Male Miqo’te are the one true master race and haters are just jealous that they don’t get to have adorable happy ear wiggles too. The females have cute emotes too.

Midlanders: too robotic and generic looking for males and females respectively
Highlanders: need eyebrows and even with them, they would look too angry all the time. Females are ok at best

Miqote: males are good but badly need something to differentiate all the catbois. They're all clones, but at least they get the best male emotes. Females are pretty good overall. The clans need to have their fangs/eyes actually an option species wide not clan wide

Elezen: quite frankly i dislike them. Their proportions are janky to the point they look like their neck snaps in some cutscenes eg cylva in your inn room, their run is awkward too. Their smiles look forced too

Lalafells: uncanny and too childlike. This and the elezen are races i would not be glad to see gone

roes sea wolves: they have some good options and emotes. why does nobody play them?
hellsguard: the skin tones are a bit too saturated at times and the black nose is weird

au ra: these poor dragons got shafted from their concept art. The height disparity makes no sense and the xaela at least look really good when modded to be tall. A lot of clean up needs doing to them. to fix things like their scales being misaligned, limbals being blocky and face 3 horns looking stupid. Males have an awkward run too. some of the emotes are WAY too cutesy on the females. and they need to be y'know...more dragony
Raen: really quite cute, yes even the boys when they try
Xaela: probably the best race/clan combo in the game. Xaela ladies also look really nice in all the unusual skin colours, come on people, try em out!

Viera: I feel let down tbh, they have some excellent emotes and customisation...but they're missing key things like the digitgrade feet, claws, tail etc. They have the best hair though. Males I'll wait and see

hrothgar: a big cat race done properly would be excellent. There's too much wrong with them currently for me to like them. Hunchback posture, face/hair links, tail size being awful, skin/fur looking messy, digitgrade feet missing...in short, the males need to be more like ronso, but not quite as thin I think and the females must be proper females, not miqote females 2.0

I literally just told a friend the other day that you have to be somewhat outgoing to play a Lalafel. I switch to a "mini me" sometimes when I get bored, and while it's kinda nice that people are always interacting with you and want to give you headpats and cheer you on... it's like a themepark ride that gets old really fast.

Yes! I love my Lalafell and often enjoy talking/emoting with random people but occasionally I just go "nope, not logging to her tonight, I don't feel that social" lol

Hyur : Well human, nothing to say, only that the running animation for the midlander female is so ridiculous, is like a disney princess (no)
Elezen : Pretty good but the animation are so bad (no)
Miqote : everyone in the game...I don't like them (no)
Au ra : Second best race for me, realy cool style, the male are the best (why not)
Roegadyn : The female are realy good but the male are a little too much (no)
Hrothgar : too much cat in the game, stop plz (no)
Viera : hot girl with bunny ears, should be the most played race in the game because of that but the bad customization make the people go back to miqote and no hat (no)
Lalafell : Master race (for ever)
