Lalafell: Always characters, compresses more sass per square inch than you'd think.


Miqo'te: My fave race for female and males. Except I only like 1 face on the men and 2 faces on the women. Their ears were made for accessorizing. The degenerate gold standard of my server.


Roegadyn: My alt is femroe, big appreciate. Roe players are always on the serious side in DF. Matter of fact, take-no-shit.


Au Ra: 2nd fave race for males. My least favourite females in the game. I'm not a fan of the whole 'uwu smol' vibe, or the fact that they don't get literally any of the cool male traits like black sclera, blue tongues or black scales.


Viera: Rarely see a fully clothed one, even if not RPing. I'd play one but I don't like being tall.

Hrothgar: I'm on Balmung so uh... most of them are you know... in Ul'Dah. Hrothgar I meet in DF are always chill and competent players.

Hyur: Middie men are topnotch, love their faces. Middie females have the same problem as fem Au Ra for me. Far too hyper feminized for my tastes, always look like they'd cry if someone sneezed at them. Highlanders: 10/10.

Mi'qo'te: Played by people who ERP and hang around Lims Laminsa wearing as little as possible. NO

Lalafel: Despite the fact that this race gets a lot of hate, it is almost always played by the most interesting people you'll ever meet. No.

Hrothgar and Lalafell: cute and usually pretty cool in my anecdotal experience (Yes)

Xaela Au Ra: can look awesome or adorable and have freaking sweet horns (Yes)

Others: not my thing but I've seen great glams on every race (No)

Au Ra: Best looking race in the game overall, objectively. Back to being my favorite since male viera ruined viera. (Yes)

Viera: I like female viera quite a bit, but they are extremely limited, and I do not like their lore. Male viera I dislike quite a bit, even though I did humor their inclusion when I was in a better mood. (Yes)

Miqo'te: I don't like them in general, however, females have decent animations, and can look good in the majority of glamours in the game, despite tail clipping. Male miqo'te just no... (Yes)

Elezen: Female elezen are cool. They are unique, when compared to most player characters, and can look great in specific glamour. Males I am indifferent; no strong opinions either way. Suffers from odd proportions, and stiff animations. (Yes)

Lalafell: I've never liked joke, or small races. Lalafell are no exception. (Never)

Roegadyn: Both males and female look dated and generic; just generally bad. Exaggerated proportions (discount hulk). (Never)

Hrothgar: I don't mind hrothgar. Males look alright, but their whole deal is something I don't want to be involved with. I like the idea of hrothgar females, will have to see what they look like. (No)

Hyur: Generic, even for humans in a game. Desperately need an overhaul in regards to customization options. (Yes)

I'unno, I'd pretty equally play everything equally... If I wasn't super attached to the lanky noodle of a miqo I play.

Still, before NG+ became a thing, I did play through the story various times under alts for experience in some classes/jobs from the ground up as practice, and I made each alt different than the last.

Hyur: Alright but too robotic
Elezen: Alright but takes effort to make good/cool looking females
Lalafel: They're fine and I like how they can be either funny or cute
Roegadyn: Don't care for the male ones' anthropomorphic barrel like appearance and bland cookie-cutter bara shaped faces. Female look really cool.
Au'ra: They're fine. No strong opinions.
Miqo'te: I absolutely hate "catgirls"/"catboys" in almost any media. And Miqo'te are no exception to that. I always wished they never existed. I hate kemonomimi of any kind.
Hrothgar: They're alright. But there are only 2 good faces. The other are grotesque or gross. Hate how ugly their upper fur design can be. I'm OK with playing the race but making them hunched like troglodytes, despite their lore suggesting they're supposed to be a lot more civilized than Au'ra, really ruins the deal sometimes.
Viera: I honestly don't care too much. Just more kemonomimi. An anime-esque trope I hate.

Regardless, I don't like Viera, Miqo'te and male Roes. But that aside, I'm fine with the races for the most part and would/play any of them.

Midlanders: Eh. They're human. They're not bad, but they're not terribly interesting in a fantasy world.

Highlanders: The males are kinda ugly most of the time, and the females' over-dramatic animations are kinda jarring.

Elezen: Weird proportions, they kinda fall into the uncanny valley.

Lalafell: Not really a fan of the smol cutesy style.

Miqo'te: Aside from the male hands, my only complaint is that a couple of the female voices feel like I'm being stabbed in the ear with a power drill.

Roegadyn: Males went a little too hard into the bulky muscle man look, they feel too stiff and lifeless. Females aren't bad, although hard to glamour.

Au Ra: Males have a really weird running animation, it looks off. Like they mistimed the movements or something. Females I like, but they're too short, especially compared to the towering males.

Hrothgar: Furry Roes with back problems.

Viera: Not commenting on males until we get the benchmark. Females, love 'em, but the limitations get really annoying.

Lalafell: Top end raiders highly resepcted
Everyone else: Weeb erpers

This makes me want to switch back to being a lalafell - the race I picked initially when I started.

Hyur: I really like their animations and their bubbly emotes, but why would I play a human in game when I can just go outside and be a human 24/7? (No)

Elezen: Hard to glam up, boring animations, just looks plain awkward(No)

Au Ra: They're pretty funny lore wise. THey have your typical anime boy/girl voices and the typical evil best friend faces/ cute anime faces (Yes)

Miqo'te: ......Horny teenagers....that is all

Roes: I love their over-the-top animations, voices, grunts and growls. Male roes are next to impossible to glam up due to their refrigerator type bodies. Lady roes are a bit easier to glam up (yes)

Hrothgar: Outside of their hunch and lack of customization in comparison tot he other races, I love the idea of a tribe of warrior people. I really love the voices that were provided to them as they also seem over the top. Their animations are also quite charming especially their dote emote AAAAA. Brought on to please 2 crowds: The furries and the people who wanted to play a non-humanesque race. Unfortunately, for the second crowd, its lack of customization is not doing it any favors, so hopefully when F. Hroth comes out, they'll be more willing to put a bit more work into them (Yes)

Viera: Tall elegant queens who are a bit reserved and their soon to be shorter servant boys and court jesters (Yes)

Lalafell: Absolutely disgusting (Hell no)
