Most of the community handles criticism just fine not to mention they're usually ignorant of those isolated events because they don't go to the forums, don't go to reddit and don't follow FFXIV news in social media. They're just playing the game and not worrying about what others think.
You can say that about any community. It's easy to defend XIV's since it's the one you're part of.
