And again another nonsensical use of the abbreviation. How does that even relate to the post being quoted? Also, GCBTWIf they were willing to toss Arthars and Xenosys into GM jail then I promise you they will do it with him with how he acts on his main channel. There is a damn good reason everyone has told him to do it on his other channel is 100 times more chilled out. He is going to try and play it like WoW and hate every single minute.
How he acts on his channel doesn't necessarily reflect how he will act in game. Having a separate streaming personality is a real thing. His personality is noticeably different when he's a guest on other streams compared to his own stream. The Asmongold personality is a walking talking TOS violation. If they were willing to toss Arthars and Xenosys into GM jail then I promise you they will do it with him with how he acts on his main channel. There is a damn good reason everyone has told him to do it on his other channel is 100 times more chilled out. He is going to try and play it like WoW and hate every single minute.
He has told his viewers to back off so he can play and experience the game as an ordinary player. We'll see what happens.
How else should I take it? Or do people mean nothing by it when they use that abbreviation?
Of course we'll have to see what happens, and no, I don't think even Asmongold is worth an "army" of GMs following him.The implication that a guy will get thrown into GM jail for simply existing is hilarious. If he go all Xenosys and start bitching at people's DPS then I guess you have a point (although I think that was bullshit when it happend but that's not this topic).
I wouldn't be surprised if they are on higher alert to deal with any issues too. Maybe not an "army of GMs", but something.
If they don't, I feel sorry for the on shift GMs...between the actual "sperg" violations, and the FFXIV nannies reporting every single slight misstep trying to get them all banned.
Without having any investment in this beyond what I'm reading here, and regardless of the plausibility of GMs specifically monitoring him, the description "walking talking TOS violation" doesn't imply to me that he'll get punished just for existing but that it is considered a high risk that he (or the people accompanying him) will act in a way that calls for things to be shut down before they escalate. If he doesn't actually do it, they're not just going to punish him anyway.
More likely they'll just wait on reports, as for anyone else, but it's possible they'd keep something of an eye on the situation if they really did think things could get messy.
(I have no idea how accurate the claim is in the first place, though, so don't tell me off for that please.)
He'll likely stream, since that's what he enjoys- and he'll likely have a lot of his followers join him. I think the worst thing he'll have to deal with though is the same people who stream sniped him in Classic- because they'll probably follow him here and spam report him.
I think he has far more to worry about from his own community trying to mess with him than anyone in FFXIV- similarly, I don't think FFXIV players have anything to fear from him, he just wants to have fun- but like any celebrity he has some stalkers that just want to mess with him.
I’ve been watching him for a few days. And he genuinely seems like a calm and rational personality outside of his WoW persona. I doubt he’ll take his WoW persona into FF.
I just hope the community doesn’t decide to do something stupid like repeat the scottzone and lazypeon etc incidents again. Although i most likely already know what the outcome will be. It’s just nice to have some hope that people won’t stoop to those levels again.
So, what were those previous incidents?I just hope the community doesn’t decide to do something stupid like repeat the scottzone and lazypeon etc incidents again. Although i most likely already know what the outcome will be. It’s just nice to have some hope that people won’t stoop to those levels again.
Scottzone was a WoW vet that came over to ff14 to play through shadowbringers. He played through the first tier of Eden and the savage fights and literally the only critique he made was that he wished there were more fights. People then sent the man death threats and someone doxxed his address and threatened to reveal it if he didn’t leave and never come back. So for the safety of himself and his family he had to quit the game because he gave one small piece of critique. The lazy peon situation is somewhat similar, albeit lazypeon is just a popular youtuber that tries out mmo’s. Long story short he did a really bad review of 14 shb, where he used a leveling skip potion and msq skip i believe and then stated the leveling was too slow and the story didn’t make sense. Obviously his review was bad and seemingly bias, but no reason to send death threats to him. Well, people did. A lot. So much so i think he had to delete his video lol. There are other smaller instances of it happening but those are the biggest two. It’s pretty sad but not a shock tbh, considering how this community has a reputation for not being able to take criticism, both about the game and themselves in general.
