The AFKers are a huge part of the problem as well.

Having spent several days and a dump amount of hours in BSF the things that basically need to happen for FaF to spawn:

1. Fresh instance, kill Scorpions, more Scorpions dead than other Magitek before the instance begins spawning CE chains, FaF will spawn.

2. If other CE chain is spawned all chains must be cleared out of the queue before FaF can spawn (it appears to have an extremely low priority and you can even see the Lyon and Gabriel Fate chains twice before FaF and there's a reason for that)

The problem with clearing the Fate chains is a lot of people refuse to help and would sooner sit AFK so you maybe get a handful actively clearing them down so it's a slow process. FaF will then get blocked again and again by CE chains that are coming off cooldown.

In one instance it took near the full 3 hours before FaF finally spawned and basically a bunch of us yelling at the AFKers to stop whining about it not spawning and actually help clear the chains so it could.

Honestly, this is probably worse than trying to get a BA run for Ozma....

If they are AFK how are they whining?

AFK is not the same as either clueless or lazy.

I dislike Bosja personally because its not my kind of experience, but I know people in my FC that spend a lot of time there and people do tend to either not know about how to spawn something or just care to let others do the work.

Also keep in mind, one will not spawn if any of the other two you can get it from is up.

I have 3 extra 12's on one alt alone and no 14. 12 is pretty easy to get now relatively speaking since the nerf. They need to add 14 to another skirmish too or fix the spawn for Absent Friends, Steel and the CE. MDK is a good example in Southern of a 5 star note that is only obtainable outside of that skirmish with a duel and doesn't have the ridiculous rng associated with it's spawn. In Zadnor Supersoldier Rising a stand alone skirmish and Hypertuned Havok in the Broken Blade Duel chain are other examples of a 5 star note (43) that doesn't have the FAF rng silliness associated with it. I've been in zone for about 30 minutes and have had 2 opportunities already at Supersolder Rising.

It's not fair to people trying for that note to make them have to go through what is needed to spawn the chance to even get it. Many people simply don't have 2+ hours to wait for a spawn opportunity. I have lots of time but I'm also at the point now where it's not worth waiting 2+ hours for a spawn. I'll pop in randomly and hope for a new instance or go and check see where in the CE chain the instance is and whether or not Absent is on cooldown.

I don't blame the AFK'ers. It takes 15 to 20 Scorpion kills to spawn the fate if you get there in a new instance with less that 20 people and before anything else is allowed to happen. I spawned and we killed the skirmishes with only 8 in the instance and 3 actually participating. I actually got my note drop from that opportunity with my alt Kayla.

If it wasn't for the notes most 25's wouldn't be there other than for the weekly. I know my characters done with Southern ONLY go there for their weekly and that's it.

That's only for Dyunbu's field note. Sartauvoir's field note can only drop from the skirmish that spawns right after For Absent Friends (Of Steel & Flame), or from the duel against him (which happens after the CE that spawn from completing Of Steel & Flame).

Not true, I got that Field Note on my alt from Help Wanted. My main got it from Steel and Flame.

Sorry but I don't believe it. Sartauvoir isn't even in that skirmish why would that Skirmish which has Dyunbu as the main opponent drop a Sartauvoir note. Guides like https://ffxivcollect.com/records sure don't list it as an option.

Obviously it's very rare but again I was on an alt so I could play with a friend and unexpectedly it dropped from there, and they appear in the skirmish that follows.
Maybe it was the one that followed but I doubt it because the one listed on websites is Help Wanted.

There is no skirmish that follows Help Wanted and from your comments here it does appear you're not really sure which skirmish it dropped in. You have a link to the website that lists Help Wanted as dropping the Sartauvoir note?

Still, if you would like to increase your chances of getting it I would recommend doing that skirmish line. There's nothing to lose if For Absent Friends is this rare.
