Farming trash for clusters wasn't a thing I even had time to do; it would've been a pointless diversion. So, by the time I was all leveled up and running DR for my relic I had no essences by design, same as everyone else.

So, that's why no one uses essences.
Certain key skirmishes for notes or that lead to CE for duels spawn via killing key IV legion trash mobs in certain locations. People standing in camp shouting about how long its taking for MDK or Super Soldier to pop or the chain that leads to the Sauvatoir duel. If you are killing the prerequisite mobs to spawn those, youll be drowning in clusters.
