At least they let us use either version rather than locking us to only the PS5 version. Options are good.I suspect that they feel that the performance is acceptable as is. Obviously, that's pure conjecture, but they have to playtest the same client we are playing on, and they surely see the same issues. The thing is, it's never unplayable, so I think they're more likely to just chalk it up to higher settings.
I long theorized that the PS4 could probably do better performance-wise if they used the lower LOD settings from PC (lower quality objects and shorter rendering distance), but they never gave that option, and instead kept the render distance at a higher setting and ran most of the game in the 30-50fps range.
On the flip side, they could be working on a performance fix as we speak, and they'll just sneak it into some patch notes down the road.
I will say, as someone who is forcing myself to use the PS5 version exclusively (the controller and sound features are way too nice), I think I'm becoming used to the FPS issues. Because while I definitely notice the drops, they don't stand out as much as they did before.
