Oh great his fans and his guild are a meme for a reason. They can barely complete a raid with two mechanics total and spent like 8 hours wiping to a raid that's more than a decade old. Any actual triple legend would not want this horde of casuals to come to this game.

The great attention seeker comes to the place where he will get the most attention (and money) possible. Shocking!

I hope they are ready to hire an additional army of moderators. I'm not welcoming to people who are toxic, bigoted, and sexist. The game might initially grow but would be set on a path to become just like every other toxic gaming community where many don't feel welcome and end up leaving.

I don't have to prove that individual people don't represent the entire population. Every population contains jerks. Your take away is "look this how horrible the entire gaming population of FFXIV is!" .. mine is "some people are jerks that doesn't mean they're all jerks."

Your point isn't any more salient than all those people you quoted using experiences with horrible people in a streamers fanbase to represent the entirety of the fanbase.

Ativan, korekera, and Drakonic are all so known at this point that including them in any "HAH THIS is proof that XIV is a bad community!" Is like grabbing the class clown from one school and going "HAH! THIS is proof that all students are horrible!"

Forums attract contentious folks. We're not representative of the community at large, there are at most 70-80 people active on the forums outside of technical support or lore discussion. We're representative of the extremely small subset of the community that is more willing to argue and nip at each other. And even smaller still is the subset of the community that comes on here just to troll.

Our community sucks. It’s a cesspool of toxicity hidden behind a shiny piece of plastic with glitter and stickers on it. Just because people try to keep it underwraps doesn’t make it any less true. The fact people sent death threats and tried to physically harass an ex wow veteran simply because he gave an opinion on the game should speak volumes. You can argue all you want that “that doesn’t represent our community,” but when it happens multiple times, yeah sorry but one time is an accident, a second time isn’t. Don’t give me that crap.

And those people are horrible people. But there are horrible people in EVERY community - and as much as you hate it when people say it doesn't represent the community - IT DOESN'T. This is a community with around 1mil active players. You cannot in good faith write off one million active players as a "horrible community" just because there are a select few cases of people WITHIN that community acting out and behaving extremely inappropriately.

Our community sucks as much as you want to wallow in the negativity. Blacklist people who are jerks, don't stay in FC's full of them either. Everyone else I've met has enriched my gaming experience pretty nicely. I've played many many MMO's and so far This and GuildWars are the "nicest" ones.

Yeah it's not a utopia and yes some people act like the community is nothing but milk and honey (it totally is not) but both extremes are completely untrue.

FFXIV community is a meme though GCBTW, is how a many others view us because of those minority posters. The reality is yes if someone saw something crazy multiple times many would attribute that behavior the community at large.

And that's their problem. The truth being the extreme majority of the FFXIV community is the same as anywhere else, people playing games. And since we aren't also indoctrinated with this pseudo rivalry of say.. Alliance VS Horde or Asmodean Vs Elyos, most people in the game are helpful and willing to treat you as a fellow gamer no matter where you come from. Memes are memes and should be taken as such. Games are populated with gamers who are as diverse as the rest of the world and for the most part largely just people amusing themselves with the game.
