I've received the same reaction for suggesting that from time to time maybe glamour and hairstyles can be designed with a male character in mind first and foremost.
    hmmm... "rarely experienced"

so never heard of Sylvannus? or maybe Thrall? or perhaps Jaina? when I played there was a lot of vitriol if you liked or disliked them. so saying you rarely experienced it there is amusing at best

I'm not sure most WoW players would find FF XIV endearing... They have been conditioned to zoom through the game to focus on "endgame" stuff. To enjoy XIV you pretty much gotta enjoy the story; the combat isn't really all that great and to some people the dance-like mechanics and positionals might even feel dated or nonsensical. I've watched those Belullar videos and I agree with him in the point that if— and only if— those WoW players are able to stay long enough to "acclimate" themselves to the pacing of XIV, AND be willing to read and involve themselves with the story, would they find actual enjoyment.

As for Asmongold... Not sure he playing XIV on stream would be a great idea... I've played some WoW classic on the Faerlina server up untill right before TBC release, and his fanbase (especially his guildies) are among the worst, most toxic scum of the internet. *shrugs* His fanbase might end up ruining the experience in a server— at least for some people. But that too, is just speculation... Maybe the good and helpful XIV community could heal their toxicity?

I would be delighted to see Asmongold play this game, if nothing just to see his reaction. I very much doubt that his fanbase will impact FF14 that much, as any sort of toxicity will be swiftly banned.

Fewer WoW players enjoy the zoom than you think. It's the vocal ones that do but the vocal minority is rarely representative of the quiet majority in any game.

The average WoW player is very much like the average FFXIV player: trying to have a fun and relaxed time doing the content that appeals to them without worrying about what others are doing. They're not vocal because they're content with things overall and spend their time playing the game instead of talking about it.

Plenty of WoW players have already transitioned to FFXIV and made it their home MMO (I was one, several in my FC also played WoW in the past). More will probably follow suit this summer when patch 9.1 is released and some of the new changes make the game even less casual friendly. They'll do just fine here and won't even be recognized as former WoW players unless they mention it.

Some of the "zoom" players might try FFXIV, hard to say what ripples the upcoming patch will have across all parts of the player base. Maybe some will decide they don't like "zoom" as much as they thought and stick around. Others will go back to WoW.

If Asmongold decides to stream FFXIV, I wouldn't worry about it. His problem viewers would quickly get banned because SE doesn't tolerate that stuff like Blizzard does. They're also going to have a very hard time getting onto the same server as Asmongold with how frequently SE changes character creation restrictions on worlds. If they try to flood the server he's on, it will stay locked. It would be a short-term problem at most.

In his case he was sent death threats and literally forced to quit the game. All because he said there should be more raid floors lmao.
I already knew our "nice" community was toxic, it was just made it more public with ths scottzone cause he dared to have a different opinion to make raids better. It was crazy, especially the death threats and dox blackmail.

    So is transmog in Wow.

What I have noticed is for EU (which is am in) seems to be very friendly, but it's seems the NA side of the English section of FF14 that has had a lot of bad experiences for a number of people?

Bellular being from Ireland is playing on the EU datacentre as he new employee is a FF14 vet, which is how he's been able to find a gateway into FF14.

I had found generally the attitude in FF14 to be very different to what I experienced in WoW, which I played off and on, until WotLK when I really got into the hardcore raiding side of things. WoW high end raiding or any raiding back them felt very pressured, where FF14 feels much more laid back, which I put down to how easy the telegraphs are in boss fights in FF14?
It's too bad that guy is such a white knight for FF. It's not healthy when you can't have a constructive discussion. Same thing with Brian guy from Work to game or whatever the YT channel is called - maybe he matured over the years but probably one of the biggest White Knights in the FF14 Content creator scene I saw when I used to watch their videos years ago.

I started as a Dragoon in FF14 and the 2.0 content was ok, but what blew me away was the Heavensward arch and the Dragoon content mixed together, I thought it was the best experience I've ever had in an MMO for far too long.

FF14 is the first FF game I've played, as I don't like the traditional turned based JRPG style FF was known for. I think the slower pace of FF14 threw me off for a while and I didn't take the time to read the text in the sections with no VA's. For good or for ill, FF14 is a game you need to take your time and understand the story that's being told, which can be something many MMO's players don't bother with.

Yeah there's a lot of really polarizing characters. Tyrande is another that my guild up until I quit the game utterly despised. Take a gander over at the forums on mmo champion or the official WoW forums and you'll see a LOT of vitriol and arguing, often along faction lines.

That said I don't know how pervasive it actually is IN GAME for the average player.

WoW Human males look like a combination between someone's dad and a disfigured gorilla. The faces and customization are perhaps the worst of any MMO on the market.

I never understood the WoW players dislike for ff14's aesthetic either when WoW is all bright colours, exaggerated chunky features, pandas, goats and big cartoon eyes everywhere.
If ff14 is anime, then WoW by comparison would be a children's cartoon aimed at 10 year olds. They're hardly in a place to ridicule us over aesthetic.

mmmm i don’t know. I’ve never played Wow but, i have seen some of their customization. Our character customization is very very small. To my knowledge WoW at least has updated their engine/character creation whereas we haven’t at all. As for aesthetic, you can’t really bash on someone’s opinion over something like that. The same chunky features you mention 14 has as well i mean, just look at the bozja zone lmao. Certain aesthetics appeal to certain people. I’ve seen some WoW zones that look pretty good and interesting and some that don’t. Same with 14. There’s a lot of zones i find absolutely ugly and disfigured/weird but some i like as well. Il Mheg looks pretty damn cartoony lmao.

We don't need WoW content creators to validate that FFXIV is a great game.
