I'll take any positive advertisement for the game, whether you care about streamers or not if it gains positive public attention it's only a good thing.

Poor guy is in for a shock if he ever reaches endgame and starts giving out constructive criticism though. FFXIV is far from perfect and also is not a game for everyone, yet I love it. Anyway, Bellular, and a lot of new players, are still in the "honeymoon" phase. For what I observed that phase ends once players catch up and learn how this game delivers content.

I still remember that streamer that dare to say: "I think the game needs more raid content" and how the hate brigade drove it away for it.

Since a few people are bringing up Asmongold I'll throw my own two cents in.

People want him to try FFXIV because WoW is basically dead and FFXIV is the current top MMO. A lot of WoW players are jumping ship and find FFXIV a lot more enjoyable. This is why people want Asmongold to try it. Now, Asmongold gives very lame "Excuses" as to why he won't try it. The main reason being It's a "Weeb" game. In one of his "reactions" to Bellular's reviews on FFXIV about the story and other various things, Asmongold stated that all of it doesn't matter to him and his main selling points were fluid combat and character progression which FFXIV has. So the whole "Weeb" thing shouldn't matter, right?

So later in the review he talks about not wanting people in chat to constantly say "Weeb" this and that and "Copium" this and that. So his chat told him to basically try FFXIV off stream. Or he could disable chat. He also stated that people kept saying that he was scared he would get hooked on FFXIV and leave WoW. This is technically true considering WoW players are leaving for FFXIV left and right. Just imagine his chat driving him crazy over him playing FFXIV instead of WoW. His chat is just toxic towards FFXIV tbh.

Now, I would like for him to try it just to have an actual opinion on it instead of just having these "Reaction" videos. And if he likes it, that's great. If not, that's fine too. In the end, it's his own decision.

Square Enix would have GUARANTEED banned him by now for harassing other players. The entire /spit thing he did with people bought store mounts would have gotten him permanently banned from FF14 as it was mass harrassment and toxicity.

Blizzard let him get away with it because he is free advertising on Twitch. Let him goto New World or ArcheAge where he will get destroyed daily by mega guilds that go there from Lineage and Guild Wars 2.

Noone in their right mind thinks he should play FF14 on stream as his chat is basically the next worse thing to cancer.

Yeah. It doesn't help that a portion of the FFXIV community is enraged by the strangest things. Simply liking or disliking specific characters in the story is enough to result in a lot of vitriol. The sort that I very rarely experienced during my time playing WOW and ESO. I've received the same reaction for suggesting that from time to time maybe glamour and hairstyles can be designed with a male character in mind first and foremost.

Every community is going to have things it gets up in arms over.

The XIV one is just bad around gatekeeping for some reason.

You have to like the story, you have to do raids, you have to do this, that and the other.

If you aren't good that means you are casual (it doesn't) if you don't raid you aren't hard-core (also no, it doesn't mean that)


The community here has weird definitions for things I still don't understand even after 10 years of being part of it.
