I'd feel very guilty if I signed up to a duty and didn't at least try to be productive and prepared. I play single player games when I'm in the mood to just mess around because I don't want to inconvenience other players/waste their time.

Agreed. I may not be the best but I can't imagine going into a duty with other people and just not trying, and if that includes having a few items to push things along then that's fine. I don't get bothered by a run taking longer than average but I'll do my best to ensure it's not because of me.
