I know that it must've taken a lot of time and effort. And I know they'll have their hands full with female Hrothgar as well and this too will impact hairstyle options for Viera (both male and female).

With that being said, however, I would prefer they prioritize female Hrothgar over new hairstyles (even when I myself play as male Viera), simply because I believe genderlocking races should never be a thing (just like how genderlocking or racelocking classes/jobs should never be a thing). I trust that we'll have more options; things just have to happen at the right time.
I think it's the decision they thought would make them more money. Another limited race: more fantasia sales. No hairs: more fantasia sales. Female hrothgar a race relatively NOBODY will play, that will probably have the same amount of issues the (seemingly ignored) male hrothgar have, requiring fantasia to even change their singular hair.

I'm sorry, BUT WHO CARES if viera and hrothgar were gender locked?! Like seriously. Viera were chosen over femhroth initially, and put on the backburner for male viera BECAUSE it's a big female furry race, that only a small niche will actually play, in my opinion. They stated female viera/male hroth was "the last chance" to add any new races to this game, yet out of left field they come out with male viera. Probably to satisfy a loud minority who spam them relentlessly over twitch, twitter, youtube, whatever. One hit wonder race, that will, ironically, be there as a 'SURPRISE' selling point for EW, because I don't see much else super exciting. ShB overall as an expansion was a joke (not the story), in my opinion. Everything feels half done, including the races.

They have to have meetings just to figure out how they can more easily allocate resources for hairstyles, here's a suggestion of mine: How about not add male viera, promise female hrothgar, after also promising to add additional hairstyles, or customization options for female viera/male hrothgar two years prior! In my opinion.

*Looks at 2 threads that each broke 1k likes, one which nears 2k, questions being asked every other interview, a couple of streaming personalities, and more*

    ...enough people, it seems.

I'll try to say this as kindly and neutrally as possible but... you may want to take a step back and a little break because obviously the subject of Viera hairstyles is too important to you, but it doesn't mean you can shout down other people who got what they were hoping for for 2 years.

Yes, and? How many of those likes do you think will actually play male viera, or eventually female hrothgar? Even if every single like DID, 2k is NOTHING. Besides I highly doubt the devs actually read the English subforums, frankly.

Am I not allowed to give my opinion on a public forum anymore? If people don't want to see my opinions, they can blacklist me.

Also, I have included male hrothgar in every single one of my posts on this subject, it isn't just about hairstyles for female viera.

Of course you should be able to give your opinion. People have the right to have different opinions, and even though I disagree with yours, I totally respect it and support you to have it and express it.

I do agree that it's a bummer that female Viera and male Hrothgar haven't gotten any more hairstyle options (and it's especially disheartening that Hrothgar have to use a fantasia just to switch hairstyles).

However, I think the dev team made the right decision by prioritizing male Viera and female Hrothgar. I say this even as someone who definitely plans on playing male Viera (I've been hoping for them since the concept art was revealed back in Heavensward).

And yes, while most players will not stick with male Viera or female Hrothgar, it will be greatly appreciated from those who do to have them playable.

EDIT: Responding to your other post, I don't think female Hrothgar and male Viera will be super unpopular. I think there will be a good-sized population of both, just like how male Hrothgar and female Viera ended up. Even though male Hrothgar didn't turn out to be as popular as female Viera, they did end up having a fairly good-sized population (on some servers, Hrothgar outnumber both male Roegadyn and male Elezen).

While I do think female Hrothgar won't be as popular as female Viera, much less so female Au Ra and female Miqo'te, they'll definitely offer an option for players who like bestial races. Personally, I'm not a fan of bestial races, but I totally am on board with more variety. Female Au Ra and female Miqo'te will continue to dominate the population, of course, but it will nice to see female Hrothgar around too.

Believe it or not, I have supported male viera AND female hrothgar's inclusion FOR YEARS, but with a caveat - I think they should have added them WHEN THEY WERE READY. It feels like they are cutting corners to me, and they sound like they barely have any resources to do what we even have now. Reading the interview where they are apparently just in the planning stages FOR HAIRS for viera (did they even mention hrothgar?), is disheartening, demoralizing. I was sure oh we will get something for EW, surely! No.

Now I'm no dev, apparently they think they are ready, and that's enough for most people, but the way they make it sound over there in interviews.. Where they also apparently can't even include further battle content, because the team is so stretched thin.. It sounds like dire straits to me.

I don't disagree. I think male viera specifically, will be fairly popular. Have said so many times. I just personally don't think female hrothgar are worth the investment yet, to be frank. If they come out looking like Roe we can probably expect them to be about as popular as a femroe, and I am just not sure that would be worth it, right now.

Why now? I can't answer that. As someone who is completely unfamiliar with dev cycles and how video game graphics work, I would have no clue.

But I can guess as to why they did. They saw that many players want male Viera.

As Anvaire pointed out, players all over the world asked for male Viera. From the official and non-official forums, to various social media platforms.

I do see your point about cutting corners, and I also see people's point when they refer to Viera and Hrothgar as "limited races".

Again, I'm no expert but I do remember the devs saying that, due to the nature of their features, it's really difficult to adapt currently existing hairstyles to the Viera and Hrothgar. I can imagine it being especially difficult for Hrothgar, seeing as they are totally bestial and have very different head shapes.

I would think that right now, they want to make the missing genders playable so that people who want them can finally have them, even with a limited set of hairstyle options.

I can tell you that I definitely appreciate the inclusion of male Viera, even while knowing that they won't have access to the other hairstyles. Just to have them makes me extremely satisfied, and I know it'll be even better once they make the other hairstyles available. But for now, I'm happy to see them and I'm sure many who plan on playing male Viera also feel that way. And I'm sure a lot of players who want female Hrothgar will feel that too.

And as Anvaire mentioned, hairstyles are somewhat minor in the grand scheme of things, especially when compared to making the missing genders playable.

But I would say don't lose faith. More hairstyles will definitely become available.

Frankly, i think its not about giving your opinion its about how you articulate it. The issue with hair, while annoying, i think is quite minor in the grand scheme of things. I hope that they are sorted out in the future, but realistcally i think the issue isnt as big as it is often stated. I appreciate its important to some people, and i truly hope the fix is there in the future. But, i dont think its something thats easy to do.

If I recall, and i havent gone back to check, you were one of those who were very vocallyagainst the addition of the missing genders and i acknowledge that thats a fair and reasonable stance to take. But there was clear demand for them, from the threads on here, twitter to every live letter or square event having the chat flooded with la hee and add male viera / Female Hrothgar.

While 2000 likes isn't a large number compared to the playerbase. It is still a measure, and unless it counts the other sections of the community is still a large number of players showing interest and clear Demand. That is before we factor in those who simply replied with their support but didnt given a like. I Personally feel its a very erroneous approach to call it "nothing." Even if it was just one player asking, its still valid eedback to give and request. The devs listen, that much i am certain of, they listen and they do what they can. There are ample examples of this. Of course i was one those who wanted male viera and female hrothgar added so my stance is somewhat biased. That said, given a scale of value vs dev time, Male viera vs Additional hairstyle fixes, Male viera would always be arguably the choice they would make. It was an opportunity to drive excitement in ways that annoucing a "fix" i dont think would. Thats my take on it.

All hope isnt lost though, as Yoshi P mentioned in an interview that he was aware and they were looking at where they could allocate the resource to fix. He did reiterate, as was annouced when the SHB races were revealed, that all hair would not be available. They have been very upfront about it.

You asked who cares. I answered. I'll say it again, it's not bad to care about hairstyles. But deliberately coming into the male Viera thread to raise a stink because we got males instead of hairstyles is... well at the very least it comes across as deliberately combative. Heck, among the very same people here we want male Viera AND hairstyles, it's not one or the other. Hairstyles were confirmed, they're coming, at some point.

LUL your side really only won until they start to complain about the lack of new hair options and or lack of helmets.
