Just wiped in Pagl'than because the (new?) Dragoon did not know what to do with the lightning puddle in the first boss. He stood around under the boss with it for a while before deciding at the last second to ELUSIVE JUMP--promptly dropping the lightning puddle on me (the healer) and the other DPS, giving us enough vulnerability stacks to die to the next unavoidable Electric Burst.

TBH, I'd prefer a run where people occasionally do wacky stuff like this instead where everyone is an expert and everything is just smooth sailing. After doing DF a thousand times over and over it's stuff like this that's more entertaining to me, hahaha.

That's hysterical. I think I look like that in DR when I know I'm lagging , and I can see that I'm doomed due to some mechanic.

This morning after work I got my morning workout in. After I do a buncha dumbbell curls/rows etc. and push ups, I wind down with my under desk cycle and roulettes. Well, normally my legs get tired after a dungeon or two, and I blow out on Trials, but today I decided to do 80 Roulette thinking, "Ah, in another 15 minutes, I'll hit 500 calories burnt..."

So I queue on DRK, and it was an Amaurot 22 minutes in progress. I say, "Having a bad time with the first boss?" The Astro healer is like, "Yeah, and it's not helping I just came back to game today, haven't healed anything in a while." I'm like, "Switch over to Diurnal stance, and it'll be a little easier on you. No worries, we got this, brother."

The party was comprised of me, a MNK in a hodgepodge of i415/i409 gear, and a BRD in fully crafted i510. Course we're synced, but basically the Monk is just uhh... basically a flyswatter, and they were in Fists of Earth cause they didn't trust the healer.

The healer was actually doing fine. He didn't use his kit to the fullest, but healing was not the issue. The issue was the bloody MNK kept putting his comet too close to the other comets, and the BRD did too cause he was new. So first go of it, I flexed as hard as I could, and we got it to 5% using everything. Astro got killed by being too slow to move out of AOEs. I was giving him TBK every time comets pulsed out. It always broke, and we always received two vuln stacks from exploding comets.

Next attempt we got it, and at that point there was around 49 minutes left in the instance. I move us along doubling up the trash packs, which is the fullest extent you can do pulls in there. Goes ok. BRD freaks out when bombs/dark sprite tether to him, goes running off no hurting anything.

Second boss went fine but slow. It actually almost finished the cast and bloated up to 3 stacks or something. I was panicking like, "Limit Break please." but the MNK wouldn't, but we killed it anyway.

Had another wipe on the last trash pack. Not sure what happened. I ran out of cooldowns, and had been using TBK on cooldown. Super potion. Even switch to single target attacks so I could get heals off Souleater, and my HP just couldn't be brought back. Not a big deal. We get to the final boss with 38 minutes left. We go at it. Inevitably the MNK and BRD die, and by then it's only at 64% and it's like two rotations away from the enrage. So we give up, come back. MNK DCs. We give him a few minutes. Doesn't come back. We get another BRD... also new. At least they had their i430 gear. At this point there are 29 minutes left in the instance. My cycle says I've burnt 694 calories.

We fight the Therion. We beat the Therion, barely it felt like. It was rough. I think if that AST reviews his skillset, and does a little more practice that he'll be fine. His BRD friend needs some work, but they weren't too bad. I just wonder how things went when their original tank left them. Got their comms. Yay!

Poor healer who tried after this to tell me that all Germans aren’t like this ; if you step by here, let me tell you that I know <3 that tank was just an idiot.

Today I learned in World of Darkness:

-If you tank Angra Maiyu at the edge of the arena, it makes it impossible to get the opposite debuff to avoid getting killed.

I think most tanks don't know that position of the mechanic is governed by the position of the boss and its angle of rotation. The diameter runs right through the center of it, so putting it at the edge of the arena and having it face the edge would indeed block the other half of the mechanic.

I'm honestly not sure what you're trying to say. I would expect people to do the mechanics (athough tanks..well ). As the healer my priority is myself then the tank. The DPS will get healed through unavoidable damage , if anyone is new (either to the dungeon, or a sprout) I will keep an especially close eye on them for heals, otherwise my priority is DPS.

The DPS shouldn't assume that they can ignore mechanics with impunity. That definitely goes for myself too. So no snapping of the fingers..that only works with ..well..fairy tails, genies in bottles, etc.

I meant to say that's the notion some people have, not necessarily how things actually play out. Basically "meh, the healer will heal me because I heard healing is soooo easy" so they intentionally miss mechanics

I am one of those healers to a degree if it will not cost me too much personal damage I will heal any amount of stupid.

I'm the kind of healer that you shouldn't expect to correct your mistakes. Not because I don't want to heal, but because there are variables that prevent me from being a good 'carry' healer. Some people want to be carried by healers. I can't do it.

I don't mind enabling people on healer, but I have my limits. Like I'm good enough to tell when someone is going to milk something that's no big deal for higher damage vs. someone standing in stuff cause they're too lazy to move. The tell is that those too lazy to move are also too lazy to press their rotation. Surprise, surprise.

Since they dumbed down healer DPS rotations, the only thing fun to do on healer is to enable people. Usually via shields/mit combo. Course, that's always been fun to me. When healing Byakko Ex during Stormblood I fondly remember commanding my SAM friend to dash into the purple ground laser, and me keeping him up through it with Divine Benison.

In Eden 1 Savage I remember setting up my healers to have SCH shields and Benison on one melee, and then I put TBK on the other. This let them stack their gravity puddles and keep uptime, day 1.

In dungeons and DF people milk DPS all the time. When I'm healing, they usually have to be running around like a chicken with its head cut off, getting hit by multiple AOEs in order to die. I won't lie though, occasionally I've let tanks die on mass pulls, usually because I got overzealous or spaced. Not often, but it happens.

Basically, I'm sort of the mindset that I should be trying to drag everyone over the finish line, regardless of my job. Doesn't mean I'm happy about it, especially if it's a BRD trying to AFK their way through a dungeon, but it makes me not worry at all when a member leaves a dungeon and small stuff like that. Just keep going with 3, we're good to get the job done.

It's not like I was standing literally right next to him for 20 seconds or anything silently pleading for my life, which was ignored.
