You bet, guess you're right there exists one item new players can get that serves one purpose that they cannot use late into the game since you will want that slot for a stat item instead so clearly veteran players would never be upset by mounts or other items that new players receive that they could never get. Totally the same thing.

Look what happened when they brought back the White Ravens earrings, doubt SE wants to repeat that kind of outcry. Recolours of old items maybe, but the originals should stay just that, you were either there to obtain them or you weren't.

Last time I got a friend to join they got a bunch of stuff I never got.. some exp boosting head gear i think bieng one example existing players can never get but new ones can.. .

sure there have been other items exclusive to new players too.
Are you referring to the friendship circlet? Because you should have received that as well. When I referred my first friend to join (though this was back in Heavensward days) and when they hit a certain number of days subscribed, I was sent that, the fist bump emote, some crystal that when I used it lets me teleport for free to the nearest aetheryte to a sprout on my party, and I think some other stuff.... I think ultimately I got more than they did, with the main different is they got silver chocobo feathers that let them get ironworks gear while I got gold feathers that gave me access to mounts, dyes, etc

OK so if your saying it doesnt count because it serves no purpose..

What purpose does the legacy tattoo serve? You can't use it in anyway.
Same goes for that moogle hat someone mentioned?

None of these exclusive items serve any real purpose. The only value they have is in what they represent and signify...

What can my legacy chocobo do that absoloutely any other mount in the game can't do?

The only reason people want this stuff is because somehow they feel inferior if they dont have it...
And as someone already said most of it hardly gets used anyway. I cant tell you the lasttime I saw someone actually use the legacy chocobo mount or the gooobue for example...

Yeah Just stop having a phobia. Learn to control your fear. EZ.

Fomo preys on people with legitimate disorders causing loss-aversion based anxiety and it is totally a problem. You might not think so, but that's just cause you're not afraid of spiders. (The first word is LITERALLY "FEAR" for christ's sake)

I personally have a lot of timed exclusive items that I would 100% love to see others get because I don't base my importance on having something someone else can't have.

(also you're thinking "envy" Envy is the emotion you feel when you want something someone else has. Jealousy is the compulsive emotion that you feel when you have something that you don't want others to have. You know, the one that people feel when their exclusive item is offered to others.)

And I don't really have a care to spare for what makes executives and shareholders happy. Excusing predatory anti-consumer practices is THEIR job. As a consumer it's my job to resist that crap as much as I can.

Oh no didnt you read it, you're completely right they could add any exclusive items they want solely for new players and the existing player base would have no issue with it and would never post in the forums for it.

Not buying it, I tried to put distance between genuine phobias and fomo but you seem to be trying to tie them together. It's you doing that, not me.

What loss aversion anxiety are you referring to? Do you have any proof to suggest this is a big problem? How small is this percentage of people who suffer from it? I'm referring to people who have genuine psychological problems because the vast majority of people suffering from fomo could completely solve it by adjusting their own mentality.

I know me personally would like the lightning car & the bonus gain experience earring to lv 70. I think everyone deserves a second chance.
you are aware that when they announce something for pre-order its not like only a week in advance.

you typically have literally MONTHS. you missed out, get over it. I am sorry you missed it... but you did. accept that and move on.

we have all missed out on something, its part of living.

if you pre-order Endwalkers, you get an earring that gives you 30% to 80! so, what did you miss out on... exactly?

or are you going to ask that be re-released too because you missed that?

Irrational anxiety is irrational anxiety sometimes it's so bad that even if you know it's irrational, you are still affected by it.
It's to trigger the same fight or flight response that scammers use when they have "YOU HAVE X MINUTES TO RESPOND TO THIS OR ELSE JAIL/FEE/REPOSESSION/ETC" If you have an unmitigated anxiety disorder, it's real easy to fall prey to these tactics without knowing.

Compulsive buyers are the target whales for fomo tactics. These are those that can drop thousands of dollars on gacha games, not because they're stupid, but they have a genuine problem. Companies know this, and they don't care, because this exploitation is easy money.
