Yep! it makes a lot of sense for zenos to pick up the garlean gunblade. This isn't to say we won't get a scythe wielder! Just means Zenos probably won't be the scythe wielder if we do get that kind of job.That isn't the only thing I noticed now that you highlighted it. Zenos's weapon has a curved, flared handle indicating it is to be gripped near the end. That is not the handle of a polearm, they are gripped in the center. That kind of handle is typical of scimitars:
It is also the kind of handle found on early muskets and Garlean gunblades:
