Could also be they are the base gear model of Endwalker's two new classes's level 70 starting gear considering one of them is healing set and a lot of maiming sets are reskinned fending sets. Much like how the Gunbreaker's level 60 Outsider's Gear is reskinned Gaganaskin set and the Dancer's level 60 Softstepper Gear is a reskinned Thavarian set. The Skallic healing set does look close to Sage outfits in other Final Fantasy games.

Why does the MGP plat card cost 60 tomes instead of 30 like before?
I was hoping to spend all of the tomes on plat card....

What confuses me is the Skallic Healing and Augmented Lost Allagan Fending sets. Why? Just......why?

The correct answer was given straight away. They are gear design contest winners. There's no ulterior motive.

This also raises the prospect that the Bonewicca caster and Late Allagan melee outfits will be featured in future tome events.

All the tome rewards are doubled too, so you're not actually any worse off compared to previous events.
