One item in particular stands out. The Scarf of Wondrous Wit, it's been a contest reward for a decade, and now it's just fodder on a grind list. Kind of removes any prestige it had, even if it was just a silly scarf.

I can imagine they might wanna do this so they can move on to new contest rewards, but being an MMO you'd think they'd just want to retire the items so they can remain special for those who did something special to earn them. That's not an abnormal thing to see in MMOs. What's next, the Dalamud Horn?

It's a reward for the current Fav Dungeon Sweepstakes they just finished taking entries for.
I pointed this out to my FC mate and he said "huh? But I have one?"
Was the scarf previously available elsewhere?


And I would love it if the Dalamud horn came back <3

I think it's a good thing that more players are being granted access to neat rewards. There's already been a period of exclusivity/rarity for them after all. I spent eight million on the shiver emote, for example, back when it was first added to the game. Now it's available here and more people can enjoy it.

My only criticism is that maybe the scarf should be retired as a contest reward and made a permanent fixture of the Moogle events instead.

Periods of exclusivity are absolutely fine, and can make the content feel worth going out of your way to do at the time, but never forever- seems like a waste of opportunity and a great dissuasion tactic. Much rather share all my goodies than be special because I was in the right place at the right time. Generally suggest not to break one's word, if one verbatim said it is a one time ever opportunity, but I'd also suggest not to say that in the first place lol.

I think it's great that players who arrived to the game later also get the chance to obtain these items. It always sucks when you play a game and see something you love but find you cannot get it simply because of when you started playing. Personally I've never been a fan of exclusivity being so strict that an item becomes literally impossible to obtain after a period of time. I've never been a fan of any sort of seniority perks that affect what a player has obtained in the game (making that distinction because I'm fine with 1.0 players having access to a cheaper sub because that doesn't affect what they can do in the game).

Anyway it's not as if SE are making previously exclusive items easier to obtain mere weeks after their introduction to the game. Many were in the game for several years before SE made them available through moogle tomes.

And I'm finally going to get that skallic chest piece that has been eluding me for so long. Finally. Seeing that piece among the rewards was a very pleasant surprise for me.

They made the scarf obtainable from the Itinerant Moogle back in 2018 so that shine has long since worn off.

I agree with Theodric on this matter, SE has already shown they're extremely selective on what exclusive means at this point so I see no harm in letting older rewards become more available after a shelf life period has passed.

All in all, not bad.. not bad. For a Moogle event. Looks like I might have to play my alt a little bit, so I can get the hairstyles. The 'Legendary Kamuy Fife' is a nice reward, as I still needed to farm Shinryu(?) someday... I'll be able to skip that altogether! Also, now that I have a house, I have a reason to actually get some of this decor.

I really like that it's a pretty comprehensive list of items this time around, even if it's a bit of a hodge podge. It really was getting to the point with the usual list where there would maybe be one thing I was actually interested in because I either had or had decided I didn't want 90% of what they were offering. I'd much prefer a list like this that actually changed pretty much completely every single time.
