SE, please designate a Role Play friendly server!

Lets run around in circles some more I don't think any of us have made our points quite enough times yet! There may be a few remote corners of the Lodestone still hungry for our opinions!

But honestly it comes down to this

1) Haters gonna hate
2) Thevedis longs for silent airways void of life! None of this chatter and social interaction and other protestant muk!
3) Denizens of Besaid should show each other respect regardless. Repetitive spam of any sort is annoying
4) Rpers gonna Rp...deal with it.

While having a filterable /rp chat channel would probably resolve a lot of these problems - and I absolutely applaud the spirit of the concept - I'm not sure how practical this is from an administrative standpoint. If it operates just like /say, I'm sure a number of non-RPers would be inclined to make use of it for other purposes. And if it were only available for one server, I'm sure that would create additional issues as well.

That's why rather than an "RP Channel" I suggested (a few posts before) an "RP flag" that would simply affect your ability to see non-flagged characters chatting (if you didn't want to see it) and let them filter you. My idea let you use /say and /shout to your liking, and lets others use (or not to use) them to their liking. It wouldn't have to affect linkshell or /tell, so it seemed like an "everyone is happy" idea to me. But yeah.

Fixed. And that's all issues like this will ever be. We're running in circles because compromise is impossible; to be honest, we don't even know what we're fighting over anymore (at least I don't). The argument really stopped being about a new server; it's just about RPing in general, and freedom of channels. However, peoples' opinions (even the derogatory ones) still help us gauge what other people think, which is what matters here; no one's fact checking because there are no real "facts." We're trying to persuade people. Restating, rewording, reiterating, etc. are going to happen until the next time the devs post something else and this thread falls off the planet.

And obviously, Vedis doesn't need channels to display her fabulousness (yeah, that's a word). :P

and the person screaming is the RPist trying to show off to the crowd

thats the problem, its not hard to choose somewhere not in the most populated part of town, or at the most populated camp right on top of everyone to do it

its not hard to use party or linkshell chat


how would you feel if a linkshell camped on top of your roleplaying spot, and instead of using linkshell chat they just spoke all over you with says instead? thats pretty much whats happening that some of us find extremely rude. except the linkshells arent the one doing it, its the RPists


im not saying stop roleplaying, im just saying be more considerate of where and how you do it.

as good as an idea of an RPist channel is, it would fail horribly cuz the ones whio are the problem that annoy others, are the ones who want to do it in the most public spots they can so that they have that audience.

However, I do see what you're saying, that even with my idea, the people who are causing problems might try to make everyone see their RP anyway. But if they're not flagging themselves as roleplaying and roleplaying enough to bother everyone, I think it's fair for all of us to say that a GM could just ask them politely to turn it on, and if they refused, then they're pretty much being disruptive on purpose, and a GM could probably become more active.

you really dont understand a thing ive been saying

ive never been against RP, EVER< and if you read anything i wrote you would know that

i just hate it when people do it in the most public spots they can find, Eliza Joran anyone?(yes he is the worst of the worst, but thats exactly my poiint, alot of people are just as bad still, just not as obnoxious about it)


if you want an RPist server maybe they should give you your own you can transfer to rather then designate one the rest of us are already on as an official one, but lets be truthful, itd fail, barely anyone would go to it

people shouldnt be forced into a roleplay server situation at this point


read everything i have to say and dont pick and choose the few things i hate about roleplaying(which alot of people hate, sorry if i just happen to be honest and vocal about it)

Eliza wasn't considered a part of the rp community. she was a troll, just like Rofl. We ignored her and it amused her. she trolled uldah because she could, just like others have in the past. Its sad when someone the RPC wouldn't even acknowledge is considered a example of what we represent.
