What is the problem it not being truncated causes?

It's rather annoying when you're at a vendor looking at the list of what's being sold and you have to move your eyes to a different part of the screen for each item to know what it is before you move to the next item to repeat the process.

Truncating isn't the only option, though. Reversing the name works. Instead of seeing Chocobo Training Manual - Choco E..., we could be looking at Choco Esuna - Chocobo Training Ma... That's going to give us the important information for each manual as we skim the menu instead of needing to keep moving our eyes around.

They could always just do:

Chocobo Training Manual - Esuna

Or

Chocobo Training - Esuna

The second one is probably better, since it literally is all you need to read to be able to tell what it is for, and what it gives.
