Ah yeah i forget about him sometimes but you’re right xD. The Graha thing is just what honestly annoys me more than anything.(Off topic but nice midlander btw!)Stormblood spoilers:
Gosetsu got shot a few times from close range, probably tore a few muscles trying to hold the roof of a castle up long enough so everyone could escape, had said castle fall on him, nearly drowned and washed up on a deserted island with the person who tried to kill him in the first place. The first of those things should have killed him, followed by an entire castle falling down on his head. But...you know, details. I wasn't unhappy with his survival though, even though he probably shouldn't have survived at all.
I find it deeply saddening to see TWO YEARS of the work of the dev's to produce the content from the release of ARR and 2.0 to the release of Heavensward dismissed as "80 useless quests". As if they should have sat there and released nothing. To be clear, I'm mostly complaining about the 80 MSQ quests to get out of ARR and such, which I have done, but the friends I play with, two of whom I played Everquest with, one of whom will never return, one of whom is close to giving up.
Probably because they know better than to fall for this trap.
Wonder if you'd dismiss anything from Heavensward that wasn't in it at launch, or stormblood, or the content coming out NOW that's doing the same job for Shadowbringers.
Just because something comes after the first set of credits isn't code for "this is useless filler, skip it". HALF of this game is the B plot stories that get told in the patches between expansions. Another 25% of the game is told in side story quests. The main story, is only about 25% of the game, maybe less.
It's an MMO that is seeking to appeal to a broad range of players, who have varying tastes. For many, it is the antagonists who are more appealing than the protagonists in a story because they actually have genuine stakes, stand to lose much more upon defeat and generally have more compelling and complex motives. Final Fantasy VII - both the original and the remake - really appealed to me because it had such a strong range of interesting and memorable antagonists who weren't just unceremoniously killed off as the game progressed.
If the likes of Y'shtola can come back from the dead repeatedly, I don't see how it's unfair or unacceptable for the occasional antagonist to do the same thing. Provided it's handled reasonably well, of course and they're brought back to remain relevant to the ongoing story.
Zenos did this very thing, and I am glad for it. One of the more compelling antagonists in the series, and the next expansion will only be the better for it.If the likes of Y'shtola can come back from the dead repeatedly, I don't see how it's unfair or unacceptable for the occasional antagonist to do the same thing. Provided it's handled reasonably well, of course and they're brought back to remain relevant to the ongoing story.

Yotsuyu coming back also gave us a pretty cool trial.
Fordola coming back sets things up nicely for Endwalker.
Estinien being redeemed gave us a solid ally to lean upon whenever we have to deal with dragons.
Gaius coming back gave us a potential 'in' with Garlemald as well as some neat trials.
I think the worst offense in this regard was the Sultana. That entire thing at the end of ARR was supposed to be a really big deal. In fact, it was the main reason we went to Ishgard in the first place. Then we come back to Thanalan and she re-enters the picture, completely negating arguably the biggest plot twist that the ARR post launch story had to offer, basically saying "Oh, we had that planned all along! Sorry not sorry! We'll take things from here. Later!"...and back to Ishgard we went. Was the most pointless storyline ever. I don't say that lightly either. This game has its fair share of storylines that take the stairway to nowhere.
They didn't die, only injured heavily or whatever Y'shtola was. The Exarch died, but his soul was transferred. The old body did not come back.
I keep joking with my IRL friends that Zenos is gonna become Sephiroth.
If they have a beat for beat reference to him killing Y'Shtola like Aerith, that would make my day.
Mostly because I want to be right that they are setting Zenos up to become Sephiroth
