Viera and Hrothgar Megathread

Went back to Au Ra again for now and for someone who loves glamours it was like a new world opened with just the ability to pick out new hairstyles. Suddenly I had 10 different hairstyles to pick from if I wanted a certain style (classy or warrior or modern or cute) where as Viera I have like....one classy hairstyle, one modern, one warriorlike and so on....... Suddenly the game became more fun again. Im not enjoying being tiny again (even though I absolutely love my Au Ra) but damn the difference it makes for me in regards of enjoyment when I suddenly have so many options. I got inspired.

I was Au Ra for a long time before I turned viera so it felt a bit like "coming home" again tbh, and I love my little greyish Raen equally to my Viera. I have this story in my head that my Viera uses a fantasia during mating season because she just dislikes bunnymen LOL. (In reality Id love to see bunnymen implemented ingame).

This is what always trips me up.

I mostly play Dancer and something about the longer limbs of Viera works so much better for that aesthetic to me.

I looked at Elezen too and while I can deal with the tiny head, the long neck and the weird run, I don't like having to glamour around those massive, sloped linebacker shoulders.

If I could plop an Elezen head on a Viera body they'd be a lot more appealing to me, but I guess I have Stockholm Syndrome for Viera.

Height is definitely jarring when you are used to one or the other. My au ra and miqo'te are around the same height so it's not much of a change, but au ra are also petite so even then it's different.. BUT with viera if you played one for months it is super weird to go from tall to small. I've wasted fantasias to switch back to one or the other before, because I was too lazy to adjust all my glamours for the new body type.

Yeah, the wide shoulders (and their neck) make their heads look even smaller, but I distinctly remember one time I was standing next to some elezen NPC, while I was on my viera, and good God their head was so small in comparison. I hadn't really noticed until then. Probably because my viera was a similar height.

I actually play my viera at height 30. I think minimum height is too short for me, as a viera. I don't like to go taller than 30 on them either, because everything becomes enlarged with FFXIV's height slider, and you end up look gargantuan, since most people are min height catgirls, au ra, and catboys. 30 is I think slightly shorter or about the same as max height midlander males.

I actually went from Max height Female Highlander to Max height Viera...you are not as GODZILLA like as its being made to sound...
and it doesn't feel like everything is stretched either...but if you are used to playing tiny petite characters I could see how it could seem that way...if you want really jarring... go as lalafell for a while. then race change to anything taller- then it will seem more in that perspective! XD

Edited: Also Highlanders can be pretty and not look like pissed off wonder women- you just got to know how to do it~
