Actually, reddit likely has a far higher number of active participations than this forum does. It speaks volumes the devs have acknowledged on several occasions they read reddit because of its sheer activity. It helps reddit doesn't have the reputation this forum does for lax moderation.

What I've noticed with online discussion is if opinions are significantly one-sided, they often do reflect the general playerbase. We saw that with Eureka given not only did the devs make several changes (to Pagos, especially) but Bozja is essentially Eureka with much of that feedback accounted for. Another example may be Blue Mage, which was reviled at release and only barely started to shake off that stigma. If we don't see a second limited job for Endwalker, it's very telling.

When the overall opinion is more divisive or split, then it's less likely the online community represents a majority opinion either way.
