What was the Japanese reception to Nier crossover?

Overall I can’t help but feel yoko taro wanted to tell a story then got told to add the dwarves.

Really, I got the opposite impression. There seemed to be far more effort put into writing the dwarves than the alien robot invasion, to the point where I find myself wondering if Yoko Taro really wanted to write a crossover in the first place.
