If you don't have past experience with a person, you're not going to pick up on their text sarcasm. Some people are 100% serious about the things they say that others assume to be a joke.



I know how online interactions work. For me it was easy to pick up as sarcasm even without previous interactions solely due to context and a familiarity with social media.
But that is also why I suggested the /s tag on the end. It wasn't a dig on anyone, but there is no reason to derail a conversation, again, due to someone not being able to pick up on it.


Or you can just suck at detecting the two and never really know when someone is being sarcastic so you assume serious when it's not.

Depressing.
