    Empire PC's

Ok im not sure if this has ever been said before but i thought i'd mention it now. Looking at the map of Eorzea the empire takes a huge amount of land in the Northeast. What if they opened that up to players and made it its own faction? Of course they would all be the same races and such. I think it would make for an interesting dynamic for a FF title. It would add both content and the chance for PVP. Tell me what you think. How would you do it.

PS: if this is planned in 2.0 awsome but if not its a fun thing to talk about.

it might be added into an expansion pack like they did certain area's in ffxi like khazam and alteppa. if you look at the original world size for 11 compared to current it was miniscule

Well considering they want to conquer Eorzea and we're at war with them, I don't see us exploring that on friendly terms ever. Also from what we've seen the Garlean Empire is solely made up of Hyur.

That's a personal opinion, but i never thought you could get both good PvP and good PvE. It just becomes an endless quest for balancing if you try to achieve both and, especially for FFXiV, it's not something i want them to work on (trying to balance boh). Maybe they'll come with the same principle they had in FFXi with the regions control.

They can always fix it by blaming one of the person as super evil one who fools everyone in Garlean. After we kill him/her in mission, we are all friends and live happily and after!

Honestly PVP is perfectly possible without going down the old faction vs faction path. Just do different Colosseum event battles ( 1 v 1, 4 v 4, etc.) and maybe mix in some objectives or throw a monster into the mix as a third party to fight against. The npcs seem to do this all the time in Ul'dah already, and Yoshi has said battles like that are in the works.

Doing something with the Grand Companies as far as resource control would be nice.

There is really nothing in the game thus far that says "the adventurer" is from Eorzea. For all we know, we are actually from the empire (or some other far off nation) and come to Eorzea to save them from themselves. Or perhaps beckoned by the true gods to assist this tiny little continent.

That being said, it would be plausible to have Garlemald available to us, though not necessarily part of their "faction."

I agree with the OP, at least in the sense I don't like any of the current allegiances (Ul'dah being the "lesser of evils") while Garlemaid is at least a technocracy (ergo, they actually revere evolution and technology), making it an acceptable allegiance in my book.
