Ah this is interesting. Thanks for the knowledgeIts actually not weird at all!
When you use a summoning bell, you dont open an inventory - you open a menu from which you select the inventory (aka your retainer) you want to access. The summoning bell is just a "gateway" to get to those multiple inventories, not the inventory itself. No one can access your retainers inventory at the same time as you do.
With the glamour dresser you get straight into the inventory, which is what could cause issues.![]()
Am I the only one that will put Repair NPC in the house and use it everyday?
It is so weird to see people claiming they lost the house because they didnt receive notification
Personally I dont need to use the Repair NPC since I can repair stuff myself - and I would imagine that that goes for one or two other homeowners aswell...
...but still - there are SO many useful things I stuffed into my house (and convenitly right at the entrance, too!) that I find myself entering the house on a basically daily basis to handle retainers, trade with vendor NPCs or access the FC chest. Thats not even to mention just entering the house to craft in peace with music of my choice...
So yeah, I keep wondering that aswell - if someone has trouble remembering to enter their house, why not make the house into a place you want to enter? It might not be perfect place to handle everything without the glamour-dresser, but there are still plenty of things where a house can be really useful, so entering it once every 6 weeks should really come natural (at least for someone whos actively playing during that time).
Tenants should receive demo notices too when it starts ticking down, that's how my friends notified me before about my alt's house when I hadn't been on it in a while. I'm not sure how far along it was but I never got an email about that house timer and I always get my payment emails. My friend boxy's house also blew up with no warning, luckily it was before the stupid timer system so she was able to rebuy it back from the nice guy that bought it after it blew up.
I think email is a crap way to do it to be honest because it is one of the most unreliable ways to notify someone of something. SMTP is utter garbage nonsense from 1981. They should send you mogmails in game or something in addition.
I have a house on my main that I go into literally every day, and a Medium on an alt on another server I rarely use but always remember to keep the timer from counting down because I have every intention of maintaining control of the property long-term.
it's crazy to me that people can be active in-game and accidentally allow their only house to demolish.
Yeah. I mean it sucks, but IMO if someone is going 45 days without using the plot, even if they're still active in the game, it should be freed up for someone else to use.I have a house on my main that I go into literally every day, and a Medium on an alt on another server I rarely use but always remember to keep the timer from counting down because I have every intention of maintaining control of the property long-term.

Ideally we wouldn't need the system, but so long as wards are so limited, it's going to be required.
Now if there's an issue where going into the house doesn't reset the timer and someone has to interact with an npc, that specifically should get fixed. Not everyone using their house is using it for repair npcs etc.
Goes to show people don't read or pay attention. With how hard it is to even get a plot one would think they would read everything and understand everything so things like this DON'T happen. I've never lost a house I had due to not entering it. What's the point if you never use it? Then again I log out sleeping in my bed .. and that's IF I log out. So maybe I'm just wired differently. Now glitches happen.. like being stuck on Balmung with no way out. So head pats are happening and are serious crazy. Also being blamed because of name is happening too but that's a VERY small case. Server limitations indeeeeeed.
Same, repair NPC and also the junkmonger so I can sell junk. Bell for retainers right next to them - with all those in one easy place, I know I will be inside the house every single day I am online.

There is an ingame "notice" so to speak - though granted, its fairly hidden in the second tab of the timer menu, so not an ideal place. A log-in message would be a good addition, agreed (please dont spam my mogmail...).Tenants should receive demo notices too when it starts ticking down, that's how my friends notified me before about my alt's house when I hadn't been on it in a while. However: I'm pretty sure everyone of us has the means to create their own warning system! If you're worried that you're one of those people who forget to step inside their house every 6 weeks, why not set yourself a recuring appointment in your phone or calender of choice? You can pick a day and time thats convenient for you (aka: A day and time you'll most likely be playing), set the alarm for every 4 weeks (maybe have a back up one every 5 weeks, in case you miss the first one) and there you go.
Or you do what someone in this thread already suggested and make it part of your weekly routine not only to cap and finish weekly quests but step inside the house once.
You can argue that you shouldnt need to use tools outside of the game to keep track of your house - but I would argue that anyone whos actively using their house doesnt need any of those tools (neither the ones SE provides nor selfmade solutions), because they're already using the house as intended. Anyone who isnt doing that and is worried might do well to put saftey nets like that in place.
