Oh right it is the Armoire that sort of has that initial menu. Its actually not weird at all!
When you use a summoning bell, you dont open an inventory - you open a menu from which you select the inventory (aka your retainer) you want to access. The summoning bell is just a "gateway" to get to those multiple inventories, not the inventory itself. No one can access your retainers inventory at the same time as you do.
With the glamour dresser you get straight into the inventory, which is what could cause issues.
MANTASTIC: I got 1017 problems, but playing FFXIV ain't one.

Yeah, I assume - and thats really just my assumption - that with the armoire they're a little less worried since most of the stuff people can place into it is tied to achievments and can be re-bought from the Calamity Salvager anyways. So if something where to happen to your armoire-inventory, it would be an easy fix (even a fix you could apply yourself by re-buying the items).
The glamour dresser on the other hand holds up to 400 individual items from all kinds of sources... in addition to that it stores more information about the item than the armoire, mainly the colour.
Most of the game doesn't take place in the housing wards so it's going to be the rare player that's hanging out at their house constantly. I'll go to my house a few times a day but I'm not hanging out there unless I'm on a crafting binge or redecorating.Who has a house and isn't hanging around it constantly? I don't think I leave my house and my fc house unless I need to gather or visit a specific vendor. Give me a glamour chest for housing and I'd be visiting main cities even less.
edit:
It always seems to be when the timer comes back up that these "demolition bug" threads pop up. Have yet to see a single official word on it actually existing..
When I can watch a friend walk into the house he owns on my alt who is a tenant in that house and the demo notice in timers does not get reset, it's safe to say the demo bug actually exists. As someone who never leaves their house, you're unlikely to encounter it.
The game doesn't consider items stored on your retainer as being part of your character inventory. They're considered part of the retainer inventory and you have sole access to remove them. Items placed/stored in housing work in a similar fashion except a tenant (if you have any) can also access those items. I imagine the chocobo saddlebag is the same way.
It's part of how they get around some of the inventory data issues.

I have one large house that is set up as a museum in Shirogane. The limit of furniture means my second floor is mostly empty. I have a second house on the waterfront in Mist with a beachside cottage feel. Very compact and cozy. A third is a sort of arboretum that’s still a WIP.
Compared to my good good friend who bought a large in Ul’dah who has nothing but a single spotlight on a single chair in the central atrium. Lights out. Now he’s well within his rights to decorate however he wants (including what looks like a 3rd world interrogation scene...)... but I could do a lot more with it we’re it in my hands. He has no interest in decorating it. He just wanted to have 3 garden plots.
As I said I'm almost sure 45 days didn't passed too. I opened a ticket for that, so stop losing your time to reply with no constructive words. So shocked how people can be so aggressive.
Thank you for the suggestions jojoyo, this is maybe happened to me and I'll pay more attention next time. There is a bug where sometimes the game doesn't register that you have entered your house unless you interact with something inside of it. It's something that has been getting reported for a while and been viewed with skepticism by part of the player base but it does exist. I had my own experience with it earlier this year.
A friend has one of my alts as tenant in his house. I had noticed the demo notice in her timers and let him know.
"But I was just in my house yesterday".
He went back in his house again. We both still had the demolition notice in our timers.
He logged off his character, logged back in, went into his house and this time interacted with his Summoning Bell as I suggested. Finally the demolition message cleared.
All I can say is that it's best to make sure you enter your house every time you log in and interact with something in the house, and also to check your Estate timers on a regular basis (I tend to check my timers every Monday to make sure I got all my weekly stuff done on my characters and it's easy to check Estate at the same time). The notification will show up in timers 14 days before demolition while the emails don't get sent out until 10 days before demolition.
As for the something better for housing, they need to stop pouring resources into the ward system and start expanding on the instanced system. There is no need for demolition with instanced housing (why apartments don't demo). The ward system has created far too many headaches with no real benefit (doesn't feel like I'm living in a neighborhood when I never see my neighbors).
I decorated my house with my boyfriend, and we did together a lot of glitching so yeah I'm really sad for the time spent. As someone who just started decorating my room in our FC house, I can understand how attached we can get for the hard work we put into decorating our room and house. it takes time and effort especially after a while when you start farming for those more expensive furniture.
As some posters have said do not forget to reclaim those from the housing vendors so that at least when you re-acquire a house or room that you at least have those rare furniture still.
I do wish they can think of a better way for this housing but it is hard. Even if they make it an FC only housing some people will make shell-FC to buy multiple ones.
The only thing we can hope is like you said that people can be more reasonable and generous but unfortunately for every generous person there is a person who is not. I once met someone when I was helping FC to buy a house in goblet who said he was buying a house not because he wants one or his FC needs it (they already have FC mansion), but because they are planning to make an entire ward under their FC so each member is encouraged to buy a plot on that specific ward. And yes he won the click race lolz It is kinda sad though as after I congratulated him he admitted that while it is awesome he won he probably won't use it much since he is not a housing player.
I reclaimed everything thanks for the help!
“Almost sure” sounds very convincing.
If the crux of your point was that your house had been demolished early (and you actually had any proof instead of just a hunch) then fair enough. But it’s not. It’s just pages of you whining that other people who don’t deserve houses have them and you don’t.
Clearly they use it more than you do as they bother to go inside at least once every six weeks.
I also lost my house this is insane... like my life has been extremely busy but I DO USE MY HOUSE and i literally log out in my yard every time i play. Like im sry that my life is such garbage i can't remember to walk in. I'm literally having a panic attack, this is horrible
