RP Party finders being reported AGAIN without so much as a reason.

Try being on Mateus in Ul'dah where they use the /em function to narrate their RP (not usually ERP, mind you) where no one can block or tab it. I love Mateus but I don't hang out in public areas unless I'm ready to be assaulted by poor or presumptuous writing. And the Quicksand is well... Grand Central Station, let's say.

You can absolutely block/tab /em chat, though. Log filters -> deselect "Custom Emotes".

If there are no official RP servers, then obnoxious RP (as described) is objectively ridiculous. Doesn't matter that a bulk of players call a world an "RP world", it just isn't. Spam like that is unacceptable.

Balmung was the RP server named by the community before 2.0 launched. There were many RPers in 1.0 and when all of us had to decide which servers we wanted SE to move our 1.0 characters to there was a lot of discussion amongst the whole community on where people were going to go. Everyone had to decide to move their character to another server or stay where we had originally made our characters - because some of the servers were staying in Japan and others were being moved to NA. During that time RPers chose Balmung to be the unofficial RP server and it has remained that way to this day. When people could no longer get onto Balmung and there was no housing to be had, the RP community decided they needed to move to another server that had a lot of housing open. That was Mateus because that server's population was so small and entire wards were open. So a lot of people moved to Mateus including whole FCs and it became another unofficial RP server.

Also SE encourages RP. They made a tag for it and housing tags so people could put what their house is (tavern, bakery, etc). Just because there is no official RP server doesn't mean SE looks down upon it, they don't at all.

I wasn't debating whether SE looks down upon RP. I was stating there are no official RP servers, so what RPers may claim is an "RP world", or "RP datacenter", isn't so.

Exactly that... as if the rmt isnt already enough the pf is filled with such entries as well... I totally dont mind at all or an kind, I just wished there was a "RP-say" chat for emotes and stuff and a dedicated tab on the PF...

I understand what you're saying and I'm pretty sure SE didn't make RP worlds because they wanted it to be open anywhere, not just on a world they made an RP server. Like I think they actually said that way back when but it was years ago - I could be remembering incorrectly. I know Balmung was set that way among the community before 2.0 ever launched. It makes sense that role players would find a server (or more if one is full) so they have other role players to role play with if SE didn't make an official one.

On a side note - I always shake my head and laugh when people play a Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game and are somehow shocked when a bunch of people are role playing in the game.

The reality is the general public does not see MMORPG they just see MMO and it is marketed as such for the most part. I do not blame the disconnect between the two.

There are a lot of non-roleplayers who spam emotes on all servers. I doubt they would use RP-say only. Just filter out emotes if you don't want to see them. That's what I do if I don't want to see emotes, shouts, yells etc. I have a tab set just for that. I don't use it all the time but I have one set up that way because SE gave us those tools to filter things out we don't want to see/read.

"I don't want to see it so stop doing it (shouts, emotes, etc)" even though SE gave us filters for our chat boxes for a reason. I'm starting to come to the conclusion that people don't know how to use them, don't know they exist, or think that no one should use emotes - probably a combination of these.

I think they just hate roleplayers so much they want any excuse to tell them to piss off. Like their home was invaded or something.

Id rather be able to blacklist certain players and ignore all their spam as some are just out to annoy ppl. And no, bc some have to spam their stuff mid city or smt im not gonna turn of a feature of the game i like lol.


I love RP, im sad im just not fit for it but its nice - and ive even had some more private fun xD But still with our limited chat windows id rather have them ad an RP one and everyone can be happy.


The only stuff i really hate are ppl that wanna cause irritations or annoy you, like sure, you had to be a huge roe wearing a pink wedding dress lol ...idk why RP ppl always jump on one if they suggest or request smt...
