    I don't know where you're reading snark (my only snark was intended to be read in the parenthesis about you directing your angst towards Dynratygus, who literally can't do anything beyond what they've already been doing). I deal with spectrum, I know what it's like to deal with crappy ISPs. The point is, this is a known issue that SE can't do much about.

    Here's a workaround. Costs a little bit but it's pretty good and targets the very issue you guys seem to be having.

    Unfortunately, it is a Comcast issue - if SE could've done something they would've back in 2018 when this was happening to Comcast users. In layman's terms, if it can be fixed with a VPN, it's your ISP. If it can't, it's SE's fault. And considering the same issue happening over and over again over the course of at least 3 years, is consistently fixed with a VPN - it's Comcast.

    Edit: I'd also like to add, ISPs like comcast are going to keep doing things like this, and if consumers keep tiptoeing around them because of their crummy customer service, they're going to keep outputting crummy customer service. Unfortunately because ISPs hold monopolies over entire cities at times, they can get away with it because consumers can't "vote with their pockets". (That's happening with me and Spectrum. We've got massive latency spikes and no way out without speaking to the Customer Retention department every few months. It's absolutely nightmarish).

    Hyperion server - North East US xfinity/comcast user, and been having unplayable lag for the last 3-4 nights, tonight included. Can't even craft or fish because of it. I realize this isn't an SE/FFXIV-specific issue, but it's not like this is the first time...

    Wish I had the option to switch back to Verizon. When we moved, our new city doesn't have it, and we RARELY had issues for YEARS with Verizon. I really, really hate Comcast (always have), but it's not like I have another choice. (-_-;

    Just started playing on NA servers again and ran into this lag now, comcast as well. My question though is, why does this not affect me while on JP servers? I only get the usual delay for being far from the servers, but not spikes like this.

    This lag is now getting unbearable, third night in a row and getting worse-- I even lag when inside the Inn or in FC house.

    I'm an Xfinity Comcast user on the West Coast with an unlimited plan using their high end router (the cream rectangular one) --- they charge me a fortune every month and I can't even get decent internet from these fools. I'm drafting an email to their executives tonight-- and huge thanks to everyone who posted their findings in this thread.

    This is just absolute bs-- I've never had it lag like this when I lived in the UK.

    It's because of their middle man- NTT. When you're in US servers, the middle-man between Comcast and SE is NTT, and it's somewhere in Southeast US. But when you're in a JP or EU server, the middleman is something else.

    Try the solution I posted above. If it's happening to you all at the same exact time, It's probably 100% thwe problem from my links above, and should probably fix itself with a VPN.

    Haven't played the game in a few weeks, came back today was fine all day until maybe an hour or so ago. Now even my crafting macros are messing up because of the hiccups. Aether/Jenova/US East Coast(New Jersey) Comcast as well

    The lag is extremely bad tonight. I'm seeing my game freeze for up to 10 seconds very frequently.

    It was fine early this evening and didn't start to become a problem until 10PM Eastern; it's been getting worse as the day wears on and seems to be worse than ever tonight. I guess it's not surprising considering that the lag has always happened during primetime and it's now the weekend.

    Edit: I installed Exitlag based on a recommendation from earlier in the thread while I was in the middle of experiencing horrendous lag. The issue cleared up immediately and completely, and the game seems to be running even better than it was before -- it's noticeably more responsive and I don't even get slowdown in Limsa anymore.

    I'm displeased that I had to install a third-party program just to get back to normal, but at least it seems *better* than normal now. I'm still on the free trial and frankly I haven't looked up what it costs yet...
