I don't think you understand, it was an analogy.

Lets take your suggestion for example;
Farming mats, and farming for gil. = time sinks, and time taken away to play ARC. A new player wont be able to dive in right away to play archer unless they are fully established on other classes. They'll most likely play another class before considering Archer. See what I'm getting at here?
