Why do people hate RP players again?
ITT: People who never played D&D or any MMO on or before EQ1.

I kinda harken it to "Picking on the 'nerds'"
Folks playing table-top days, used a computer for entertainment, or played Nintendo RPGs are considered "nerds" or "kids".
Game consoles become more mainstream, first-person shooters become the "Jock" of games. But if you're still playing an RPG, you're a nerd.
Final Fantasy 1 through 6, if you were playing it, you were a "nerd". If you started in on Final Fantasy 7 or 8, it was cool. It was a 3-D steam-punky RPG with bad boy leads, a trench coat samurai villain, and some guns. You were okay. If you were caught playing an 8-bit or 16-bit Final Fantasy, you were a nerd.
Then there are MUDs, later UO and Meridian 59. Which didn't really seem to spill over into the "discussion stream" the way that Everquest did. But nonetheless, considered "nerds".
World of Warcraft with the MMO refuges of DAoC, AC2, EQ2, and Battle.net crowd, things are kinda okay, but we're still "nerds" in the eyes of Judge Armande Assante. Then that blasted South Park episode comes out and suddenly it's the cool thing and everyone is into it. But if you're caught playing an MMO that no one has ever heard of or isn't mainstream, i.e. FFXIV, you're a nerd again.
And now even in FFXIV... if you roleplay... you're the odd one out.
alot of them dont use any courtesy when doing it is one reason that comes to mind
standing in the most populated area in town so everyone can see them doing it even if it annoys the hell out of everyone seeing them talk and emote for pages on pages on pages
then you have idiots like Eliza Joran(if you remember it, you know exactly what im talking about) who would spam the hell out of shout nonstop roleplaying

I apologize to the Besaid community for the abomination that was Eliza Joran. To be fair though, he/she became a roleplayer. He/she did not come to the server as a role player or to even be with role players. I also did not suggest that he/she become one (as I myself am not a roleplayer), but merely suggested that he/she switch servers from Cornelia to Besaid. At the time it was perceived that there was a higher English speaking population that was decently active and vocal.alot of them dont use any courtesy when doing it is one reason that comes to mind

Eliza Joran, by definition, cannot be expected to be a representative of the role play community on Besaid in any way shape or form. I'd go even further to say that Eliza Joran should not be considered a representative of Besaid or even rational human beings for that matter.
Unfortunately not to mention, I can go to Ul'dah on Besaid right now and find an idiot shouting. More often than not they actually aren't associated with any role playing linkshell or community.
I saw this last night actually:
I don't think that could be attributed to a role player specifically as there is no indication that those statements would be the product of role play, yet, they're still socially reprehensible.Originally Posted by People in /shout in Ul'dah

In that case, Eliza Joran was the only one I've ever come across doing that in a densely populated area. To be honest, even then I'd rather see some "bad" theatrics than see smut and potty humor in /shout in a densely populated area any day.

But that itself is not a just reason to label all Role Players. After all There are FAR more non rpers spamming emotes, shouts and random crap in high populated areas compared to the one or two Rpers who role Play near the Fronds and bother people. If this itself is a good enough reason to justify hating Role Players, why not just hate the whole MMO player base Demographic as a whole then?alot of them dont use any courtesy when doing it is one reason that comes to mind

I remember members of a End Game Link Shell running around Ul'dah in their Underwear spamming the /psych and /pose emotes non stop, gathering around people and spamming them to no end, then chasing the ones who were vocal about it all around the map.
Those wern't Role Players those were your average run of the mill MMO Dushe.
Because Role Players are not responsible for a third of the spam pollution on Besaid. Sorry to said. Rho is right, you can sit in Ul'dah for any length of time at peek hours and I can bet my last dollar that you will almost ALWAYS find /shout random crap trolol stuff. Rarly the fault of an 'rpist'
