and that it shouldnt be forced onto a current server, cuz by doing so you do alienate everyone who doesnt want to be a part of it

dont force people who dont want to be on a roleplay server to transfer off, thus breaking ties with those who are gonna stay

The RPists want the special server, then they should have to do the legwork and choose to go to it as such, its a consequence of wanting one, you cant say its not fair that your releationships may break up, but then say its ok that others may have the same happen to them so that you can get your way
Nothing would be forced. Nothing is being forced now. RP exists on Besaid(and other servers in smaller amounts) and non-rp(OOC) exists. Neither is forced on anyone. Labeling Besaid/Balmung "rp friendly" would not change this. There would still be role-players and role-play.
IF RP is "forced" on others as you say, it's no more "forced" than OOC is, probably even less so. I see much more OOC chatter than role-playing.
No one has to participate in it. Role-playing is not a disease that you can catch. It's a hobby.

I wonder if you think that Fabul will split up over something so trivial as a small part of the community's hobby.

All we're hoping for is a sign on the server door saying "There is an established role-play community here."

The community is already here. Some people may need to get over that fact. I see no harm in saying "We're here, come join us if you wish" in a place for all to see.

I have a long history of rp outside of mmorpgs that tends to make me very understanding and empathetic towards people who do so in mmorpgs. My history also makes me prone to jump into bouts of spontaneous rp in this game due to nostalgia and pure habit. Out of rp habit, I also see things through my character's eyes and my first instinct is to interact with others as my character would before I do as my rl self, these habits are more fit to a rp environment. I can imagine how frustrating it would be if I did not like playing in other styles.

I can also empathize with those who do not wish to be in a community of majority rping players and people should have a visible understanding of a choice between the two before merging. When you are not rping, it is very difficult to understand why everyone is rpwalking instead of running and typing long dialogs into their macros. It is frustrating when some one breaks the rp because they don't know about it or deliberately wish to troll.

So my vote is to make things as easy as possible for those in a comfortable and established rp server to get to a similar destination. Having their own server also helps those who don't like rp, understand that they are choosing a rp server.

Without an official designation, there is no easy way for people who are not established in the community to realize that they are choosing an rp server. [I had no idea that there was an 'unofficial' rp server and I have been here since beta.]

Ask yourself if you were new to the game, how would you go about learning that there is an unofficially designated rp server? Insert whatever process you imagine might obstruct the ease of finding one and there is the problem with not having an officially designated rp server.

Either way, I don't mind being on a rp server and would probably get into it too if it was the kind I can handle. I know that for those who do not understand rp servers or respect it, it can be a very uncomfortable or hilarious situation for both parties but usually leads to breaking the rp mode, mockery, resentment and confusion...

Just like ending up on a EU populated server and not realizing it until you are already locked in can be bad if you have the opposite schedule and want to party with people who unfortunately are unable to because they are asleep, ending up on a rp server when you wish not to, or ending up on a non rp server when you wish to can be frustrating and game breaking.

    TL/DR
My vote is yes, make it official [or at least make some visibly easy to locate official flags] for new players to understand it is an 'unofficial' rp server that they are choosing.

you can be RP friendly without having SE acknwolwedge it, i mean come on, what have we been doing all this time as is?

in the end, i think some of you just want the attetnion, you dont care about RPing, you just want special treatment and to be able to say "look at me, im on an RP server that SE recognizes"

We've stated our reasons for what we want. The ability for new players to easily find us so we can have more friends and opportunities to enjoy the game. Some of us have decided that this would be a good way. That was why this thread was created.
You don't have to agree with it.

The rest, I don't even know how to respond to..
You see what you want to see, whether it exists or not.
If you see us all as whining immature children screaming for attention then so be it. It does make one question your maturity level though, coming here to pick on us and insult us.
I've said my piece, and hope that SE considers it..

and ive given you a fair option in order to get an official "easy to find" server for roleplayers?
why not start a new server just like the euro server will be

why should the non roleplayers be forced to be on a server dubbed as an official roleplaying server?

Its simple, If you want it, youll work for it, you should be the ones who have to make the choice to leave or not to go to it. The people who do not want to be on an official roleplay server should not be forced to make the choice to transfer off, we are not the ones asking for special treatment

By putting RP on the door you effectively force others to adhere to anything RP. Example: One would have to listen to you RP in parties, Shouts, Say and even in my tell. You would then respond to any complaints with "You shouldn't be on an RP server then." and don't act like that wont happen. A simple response would be to create your own BRAND SPANKIN NEW server where we can send you all to live happily with those of your kind without forcing others to be a part of your hobby.

Of all the RP servers I've been on in other MMOs, the RP was never enforced, the majority did not RP, and the players I've observed, did not give the impression they were pressured into RP when presented by an RPer.

I'm sure those were already designated RP Servers from the get go and if not then RP is usually kept low key and to private chats where they cannot disturb others. People have a choice to avoid RP servers when if they know they do not like hearing it. That being said it goes without saying that you probably never encountered anything negative from All the MMO's because of those reasons.

Or maybe nearly all RPers know not everyone is interested and don't rub it in their faces? Some of the recent posts make me question if the new posters have actually read the thread. We've been over all this multiple times already. Page back. Read. Think. THEN post.

Also, why are people still feeding the trolls?

we arent trolling you, we are expressing an opinion different then yours

but i forgot that people dont know what actual trolling is on these forums anymore, if people dont agree they have to be a troll
