Right, because the 5 patches post HW where we are searching for the scions that is planned years in advance was due to community outcry then actual planning...

I'm not 100% on the details, but a lot about Heavensward was hastily put together, because they hadn't expected the major success that came with ARR. So I don't think it was as planned as Stormblood or Shadowbringers.

"I thought that my invincible power would hold the world captive, leaving me in a freedom undisturbed. Thus night and day I worked at the chain with huge fires and cruel hard strokes. When at last the work was done and the links were complete and unbreakable, I found that it held me in its grip." - Rabindranath Tagore
Hmmm, it was convenient though that they found Yda and Papalymo last when we were well on our to Ala Mhigo. And that Thancred walked back in to save Alisaie so she could join the scions. And Urianger was suspiciously absent to force an encounter with the warriors of darkness, or that Y'shtola was back in time for Master Matoya. No one came back to just come back. They literally walked back in when they needed to advance the plot.
SE was not ready for the success. They were ready with the story and patches because they plan this in advance. If it's the hasty patch work you claim, it wouldn't have played out so seamlessly.
