I think hrothgar do it for the same reason miqo'te do it: How felines can twist and contort into a position that looks really uncomfortable but is comfortable to them for whatever mysterious reason.

I don't mind Hrothgar's hunch since it almost makes it look like they're stalking prey.

maybe it‘s just different opinions, but i don’t think you can compare hrothgar back-ache hunching with miqo‘s kind of twisted stance. while miqo‘te males kind of give me that feline vibe, hrothgar kind of look „dumb/primitive“ in my opinion... i‘ve played both - even race changed to hrothgar when they got released but it‘s just too much. i do think people like them, but i also believe if it would be optional - they would have been more popular overall. we‘ve seen that trend already with wow‘s races. people preferred the upright versions of orcs and trolls much more when they got available - zandalari trolls compared to normal trolls were more popular for example.

yeah, for real. Who the heck was in charge of giving the hunchback the green light? I love hrothgar, and I was one for over a year soon after release, but man, the fact we're hunched over really kills their aesthetic. Most hrothgars go for the upright standing pose anyways. Why are they made to stand like that by default? Why do male au'ras stand -like that- by default? Now those guys look like novice ballerinas taking the standard position.

And now that they can unhunch, I'm fairly smitten with them.
It honestly doesn't make sense. Let's make viera from viera, but delet ronso for our "custom oc" hrothgar.

Seeing ronso truly depresses me. Ugh, what could have been. What could have been . . .

For real! I love hrothgar so much, but I hate that they are haunched like that. while walking and running it's ok, looks more dynamic, but I really dislike how we only have 1 option of standing pose with straight back. There should be more. At least we have one, sure, but I don't even like that one that much. It's like SE wanted them to be really beastly and if they had straight backs they would be too attractive, so they couldn't have that. The same as male roe, I love their stature and bodies, but they have really busted faces, like big men can't be attractive in SE's eyes.

yeah i dont like the hunch default stance they pretty much have there back straight for 90% of there animations anyway.
also Yoshi saying Hrothgar having a wolf face confuses me to this day still.
