They literally did this for female viera. It's the midlander body and uses the midlander hempen top.As much as we all agree that it would be an easy solution to just literally copy a body from the AuRa or the Miqote, I dont think its gonna happen because they arnt THAT lazy. Say what you want about the headgear situation and even mention the mods (even though that only effects your game and not the whole game serverwide) but I dont think they will stoop so low to just outright replicate and reuse an exact body for the sake of just shoving in Male Viera.![]()

And Hrothgar the Roe body with an adjusted skeleton. There's a lot of reuse between both; the only "new" parts are the heads, and we know what the problem with the heads is right now.

The problem is SE doesn't seem to want to find solutions, or even alleviate these issues for players of these races. It is disheartening.
Frankly, that's all ShB as a whole even is. This has got to be the worst expansion I have seen in regards to content, and recycled content in general. Even before Covid, before that comes up.

We've seen a reference now to them having a desire, if nothing else, over the longer term to overhaul the graphics engine. If they do, I reckon it would reduce how labour intensive it is to add new assets and thus also resolve the issue of adding in the missing genders. With that assumption in mind, it'd make sense to introduce the two things together.New interview with Yoshi-P
Note: The question wasn't even about the missing genders, but Yoshi-P once again mentioned the difficulty in adding further playable races while not closing the door on it (bolded part). He could have even dodged that point or omitted it entirely.
I'm not tin-foil-hatting and saying that they're absolutely coming. Just commenting that it's nice Yoshi-P is still acknowledging the requests somewhat positively.
When the game's story becomes self-aware:

A lot races use the same skeleton. Miqo’te, Au Ra, midlander, and elezen share the same base body with adjustments to each to differentiate them. Hrothgar and roe. Female midlander, miqote, elezen, viera, au ra all share a skeleton. But because they have adjustments, they are unique and require the same armor to be made multiple times. I’d be perfectly fine if male viera shared the exact same body with au ra, literally 0 adjustments to the frame. The lack of scales and tail would differentiate it enough without the need for changing the skeleton at all, completely bypassing the need to adjust the same armor a fifth time and adding more time and labor.

However, the male au ra body sucks. The hourglass shape is awful. I think it'd be better they not do that.

I mean, part of the reason Viera and Hroth are popular within their demographics is because they're basically better versions of Elezen and Roes. Having a literally copy-pasted body with a different head is debatable at best given the body is what makes their silhouette stand out from the other races that use the same skeleton - for example, even the people that want them to be like Au Ra almost unanimously agree those hips have to go (no offense)A lot races use the same skeleton. There may be reused assets, sure, but viera/hrothgar are not IDENTICAL to the races assets were reused from and they still add to the time it takes to fit armor models onto every player modle, plus animations. So doing the same thing with the missing genders would still add to the work, if they took them as a base and then modified them in similar ways.

Same top = Same Body?
The Hrothgar is smaller and has a hunch. So its not EXACTLY the same body and I bet still take effort and work to put gear on so...

I'm probably treading on thin ice here by saying this, but it's not just the Hempen sets that Viera and Hrothgar share with female Midlanders and Male Roegadyn. If you were to somehow force the game to let you preview all of the various starter racial sets on a Viera character, you'd find that the female Hyur set actually displays properly on Viera while every other set will instead make the Viera's body invisible. The same is also true of Hrothgar and the male Roegadyn set.
These are sets that Viera and Hrothgar can not equip because they're flagged as female Hyur and Male Roegadyn only, and there is no good reason for the developers to have spent time making them work.
