The difference here is that, in this setting, dragons DO exist, but they are aliens who exist on only one planet out of fourteen. Folks on the other planets don't/shouldn't know about them. One could maybe imagine they have legends about giant lizards - but that's still a pretty big jump to the case of the Au Ra race, who have a superficial resemblance to dragons, being called Drahn, which is a draconic word for Dragon. Even if the first independently came up with dragon legends, would they have actual specific words from the Source's dragons?

It's possible that the First somehow learned about dragons. Perhaps the Ascians shared tales of them, or maybe a Pixie somehow found their way across the dimensional barrier (as Feo Ul does - though she needed our help to do so). But even if we assume that, that means that the Drahn were named that sometime after Dragons came to the Source. What was the race called before that?
