Mordion Gaol is a bad system

It's designed that way to mitigate or outright prevent witch-hunting, to encourage people to report bad behavior due to anonymity.

If the GMs said exactly what instance of dialogue you got reported for, a person could potentially figure out who reported them, and attempt to witch-hunt them on platforms outside of Square Enix's control. (IIRC, this is what happened with a popular streamer by the name of Arthars, who got banned due to blatantly making fun of a low damage party member, which caused a bunch of JP trolls to witch-hunt the player.)

While the Mordion Gaol could be improved (especially in response time), there are reasons why they're not transparent. Don't insult others, don't use bad words when you're not among close friends is the unspoken rule in this game. All it takes is one person finding your language offensive to end up there.

Well it doesn't work. People don't improve without transparency. I can't do anything to work on my behavior if they don't let me know why. It was all a collosal waste of time.

We can spend our time focusing on me breaking the rules like kindergardeners, or we can actually have a discussion about the bad customer support system that this game has.

A system that only tells you did something bad, but never what is not only toxic, it is unhealthy. People need to be allowed to grow and to know what they can do to be better. To not be transparent shows a lack of agency for individuality, and character. It shows a lack of caring or understanding in any capacity. No one paying their sub should be treated in such a way.

You're missing the point. I don't know why at all. That description is entirely subjective when we live in a world with so many different viewpoints on what constitutes being offensive.

My mother for instance constantly insists that "hell" is a swear word, even though it's mild. She's also very religious.

So again considering different sensitivity levels, how am I supposed to know if they don't specify. Literally ANYTHING can be taken as offensive these days. Cancel culture is incredibly rampant, and being vague doesn't help. I do not know what I did to get me in trouble. I have absolutely no idea, so I ask that you please stop acting like I do know.

I have stressed this OVER and OVER on these forums. Don't say ANYTHING in game, and if you do KEEP IT G-RATED! I have not yet had a single GM interaction in all the years I've been playing, by being paranoid. It's not worth it.

Also, I think that word is a swear word too... I won't use it here on the forums or in-game.

The thing is, every case of reporting has to be reviewed by a GM who determines if the report is valid or not before they chuck you in the Mordion gaol. people can be offended by whatever they want, but the GM also has to agree with why they were offended. I could be offended by anyone who mentions the word 'snow', but its extremely unlikely a GM would ever take a report like that seriously.

So whatever you said was seen as offensive by not just a player but also the GM reviewing your case. It's as I said before; don't insult others, don't use bad words or any word that could be potentially discerned as a bad word (like your example), and you'll be fine. If you can't figure out a way to re-write whatever you're about to send to not include any bad language or dubiously bad language, don't send it at all.

Square's customer service ain't the best, but if you end up in the Mordion gaol for 'bad language', there's an extremely high chance you were there for saying something actually bad rather than a guy getting offended over you mentioning the cake isn't real.

You definitely said this better than I did. A report doesn't mean someone will automatically get banned, even if a bunch of people gang up and all report the same person. Unless they actually did something (which the GM would be able to access logs of), then nothing would come of it. This is not another casualty of cancel culture, it's a GM agreeing with the report and taking action.

And sometimes those same GM's don't have a clue what they're doing.

I was placed into the gaol before because of spam/spim and was likely to see the "You'll be penalized for 3 days" tag after that. The context to this was a player had whispered ME, spamming a certain 4 letter C word at me, and I never even responded to the person. I made the ticket, and I sent it through.

I was gaol'd for my own ticket, on someone spamming me, and was likely to be suspended for it over already having a strike (emoting too many times in public area). GM's are not very bright, considering the amount of loop he'd have to go through to think I reported myself.

"Everything is offensive, #cancelculture" is only ever used by people who are taken to task for being knowingly, deliberately offensive.

And never disparage another group of people.
