Or they can move to a game where housing is available to all and much more beneficial than FF14, such as Everquest2. FF14's FC housing leave me thinking, meh, in comparison to EQ2 guild halls.

Such as being able to dump crafting resources I don't need for guild members to use without even having to pull them into their inventory. They can craft just like they were in their inventory.

WoW's implementation is not quite as good, but tons better than FF14. If a crafting resource is in your bank, you can use it, no need to find it from storage and move it to your inventory.

However, while I have orders of magnitude more hours played in EQ2 (and EQ since its stress beta) than FF14, I'm playing FF14 for now (and FF11 before it, although I quit it because after awhile, 2 or 3 people in a group wasn't enough to do the content).

It's obviously not about the housing, which doesn't interest me at all in FF14, which is really of no interest if you have seen better in another game.

I do intend this post to support of those who want better housing, but if that's what's important to you, vote with your feet, by leaving in favor of games that provide what you want.

But as I said, while EQ2's housing is best in MMO games, and I have the best there, I'm currently playing FF14.

Despite having zero interest in FF14 housing, as it stands now. It's just not worth my time.

Posting here is a better use of my time, which I'm pretty sure is a waste of time.

Because that's pretty much what the FF14 devs intend with their borked inventory and housing scheme. Wasting time.

The game is quite nice otherwise, so I don't believe they are stupid.

You are absolutely wrong about EQ2 having the best system.. Starwars Galaxies had the best system... on the open planets you could build player cities in the wild, you could have a mayor as well and city militia, shuttleports (translates to local planet aetherytes) you had to put gold into the houses so they would not end getting autodemolished, keep in mind that it was cheap.

SWG beats most MMOs in placement as well. you could place items at any position, turn and rotate them in any angle and pretty much place anything in game inside the houses as well, your armor, making your weapon display and much more.

    Nah.

I played SWG too. It no longer exists, except as player made simulations, and so doesn't count. While EQ2 does still exist, although I won't argue over DBG as having a clue.

But I played SWG at release, and was one of the first Master Architects (with lots of help from my Everquest guild, which of course, became an SWG guild).

While I was struggling with getting resources to build our guild hall, which needed to be exactly matched (in order to use a factory to ease the tedium, which was broken), the devs kept changing the resources, which meant moving harvesters, and so not being able to match the resources I already had (so the factory was useless, but was broken even before). But managed to build it regardless, thanks to the help from my Everquest guild.

While I was in tell hell from people asking me what a banana chair looked like.

From your post, it's clear you have no clue that about EQ2 object placement options.

I played EQ2 and when I did you had to pay upkeep for the housing as well.

    That's true.

But the cost was trivial, and didn't require you to "stay up all night clicking to buy a fake house". And when I last played, if you couldn't afford the rent, or didn't play, you never lost the housing. You just had to pay the rent to access it.
