SE doesn't want ppl to focus on raiding in this game, period.

Almost everything is becoming easier: jobs, dungeons, extremes, savages, even ultimate (TEA).

They stated at 4.0 savage launch they made savage easier so more people can enjoy it, but in compensate they'll make ultimate for players enjoy difficult content. They also promised 2 ultimates per expac. Everyone was happy.

5.0 continued to simplified jobs and savage becomes even easier, most dedicated raiders are still fine with it because they still get ultimates. Until SE announced second "delay" for ultimate. For those who don't know the first delay announcement was at 5.2 savage patch (Feb 2020). By the way they said everything was back on track after the 2 months delay for patch 5.4.

And now it is almost confirmed that there won't be 2 EW ultimates, but 1 ShB ultimate and 1 EW ultimate. Which essentially means one ultimate is canceled.

So people who enjoy battle content get less content overall in ShB comparing to SB. And they mostly come in lower quality than before. Extremes now are just sad to do, no Deep Dungeon because they made it into Bozja, which was meant to be the ShB eureka too, less dungeons per patch and this means less music, glamours too. Instead we get SS update, dungeon exploration mode, ocean fishing, mahjong update, triple triad update, more and more mogstation items.

SE see what makes them money and now they're going for it, even though it means to break their promises. This is a personal opinion but I think they used the "Expansion over Ultimate" as an excuse so that players will argue with each other instead of finding out what is actually going on and take action against SE. And yeah I know YoshiP apologized.

In the end I also want to point out that most content in FF14 have no longevity, most things just die with next patch and the only reason you get a queue is because of roulette. Ocean fishing from what I've heard is pretty dead. No one queues for specific old 24 men, Eureka is pretty empty, even Castrum in Bozja had trouble forming a group that they need to hotfix. Old extremes people still do them but just for mounts, not because they enjoy the content. Meanwhile old ultimates people still do them for challenge, revisit them for fun. This is why I value them a lot even when syncing kind of takes away some challenge. From my observation FF14 is slowly turning into a screenshot simulator so raiders should be prepared for the worst.
