I don't think I need to be a software developer to advocate for the existence of software? Like, I'm pretty basic at cooking but that shouldn't prevent me from advocating for the existence of food right? I'm not a chemist but I can like... believe medicine should exist.

Particularly if there was like, a specific medicine that was useful for like, dealing with MS or the side effects of chemotherapry, it would kind of seem to me like a blanket ban on that medicine just because maybe there was a perception other people abused that medicine would be a bad thing and that advocating for decriminalization would be a good thing right?

    I dunno just a thought.
But you're not even advocating for his specific program to go to onto console. Why does my disability only matter if I'm a PC player?

ADHD's a real troublesome thing, my attention constantly shifting around making it impossible to stay at a house. Yet as a console player, I don't get access to this accessibility function you keep arguing for me. Why is it only fair for people who play on PC to have this assistance, and not console players?

Surely you can at the very least petition your miqo overlord to assist me on a console, right? If it's not even an argument, should be pretty easy, right? Or does my disability also not count because it's a mental one, not a physical one, like the examples you've shown yourself?

I THINK they're trying to say, even if very badly, that they don't think certain types of third party software should be banned because they can be used to enable disabled players to play the game. I think. I'm not sure.

The thing is...aside from two things I can't really think of when a disabled person would need to rely specifically on an autoclicker of the nature that OP used.

1 The very small handful of active time events in boss fights that require you to button mash or spam click, particularly the WoL trial

As far as I'm aware SE do permit the use of turbo controllers so these can be used to do the active time events. If this is the case, no need for an autoclicker. Furthermore these only last for a few seconds. Not every disability that affects the ability to spam buttons completely prevents all spamming, some people can do it in short bursts. I am one of those people.

2 Purchasing a plot that had at least one previous owner

It is not a requirement to spam click the placard to buy a plot. The more you interact with the placard the higher your chances will be, but that's it. The game doesn't entirely deny you access to the purchase of a plot if you didn't spam the placard. All the game requires is that you click it at the correct time so you can complete the purchase. But because no one knows when that time is they spam so they're the first to catch it. The game does not in any way say "you have to spam to get the plot". It's not an active time event.

Other instances in which you would need to do a lot of inputs in this game can be done with macros or ui utilities such as quicksynth, mass melding for pentamelds, etc.

I could be missing something, but it seems that nothing in the game would force a disabled person to have only an autoclicker as their option to be able to progress, assuming that turbo controllers are permitted. And I think it's unlikely that I am missing something because my disability directly affects my ability to spam buttons, so I am a person who does actually encounter this problem in gaming in general. But who knows, maybe my memory is failing me.

Anyway my point of this post is: assuming what I have said is correct, arguing about whether an autoclicker should be allowed because of disabled players is pointless. FFXIV isn't the sort of game that makes it a requirement for people of certain disabilities.

We should instead be asking why SE is allowing this deplorable state of housing acquisition to continue, which is the root of the problem. The use of autoclicking to get a house is only a symptom of a far bigger issue.

I had a plot open up right next to me in my ward in Shirogane a day last week. At least 6 people from the same FC were there, spamming the placard, all with their busy status on. Some random solo miqo'te just runs up and wins it, and proceeds to turn it into a bath house. lol I felt pretty bad for that FC, but...it's the name of the game. Gotta be persistent, or just be in the right place at the right time. It's hard for some to really understand that I guess unless they've seen it first hand.

hmmmm it's hard for me to read this in a non-bad faith way like you're trying to bait me into something, I dunno. Just a feeling i get.

So let's see, mental disabilities are real and as valid as physical ones.

Dunno what you mean by my miqo overlord - literally no clue to what this refers.

It seems that what you're asking for is based on a misinterpretation of what I've been saying, so, to briefly go over what I've been saying:

    - the housing system can be circumvented in a number of manners (which is a problem, and they should change the housing system). Let's call people who do this via any method group A
    - one of the ways to do so is to use software which can have valid utility for legitimate means for some subset of players. Let's call this group B
    - that some people would use that software to circumvent a game system is not a reason to disallow for players who need it for legitimate concerns. Or in other words, Group A's use of some software for unintended purposes shouldn't impact group B's ability to play and enjoy the game.

And what it kind of sounds like you're saying is that as someone in Group B, you'd like the software to engage in the activities of Group A. And like, I'm not so sure that's a good idea. I'm not so sure it's a great idea for anyone to be in group A - I think the system should change so Group A doesn't do what they do, via whatever method they choose.

To the extent that software based solutions could help you play with ADHD, in terms of repetition a quick google did find quite a number of suggestions for how to set up automated input, so if there were particular game systems you struggled to use as intended, while at your device playing the game, maybe looking around out there would be useful for you.

And probably because, again, this feels like bait, in that it just doesn't feel like you're looking for legitimate suggestions or a real conversation about this, instead of some kind of gotcha moment, that's probably all I'm going to say about that.

Nothing about it has to be the way it is. Humans made it. Humans can change it to. Also I assume that miqo'te didn't get lucky, they probably relocated, which apparently bypasses the timer. And since a relocated plot, as I understand it, opens for use immediately, they probably had someone at their original to pick it up. Why would someone either be persistent or be in the right place at the right time when you can just use the powers of nepotism instead?

You must have missed the part where I never defended the system as is.

Naw, they just have a hard time understanding that statements are normally read, understood, and THEN responded to, rather than read with the explicit intent TO respond to it.

That's probably because the truth is it's actually a friend of mine on PS4 who's got the ADHD, and not myself.

And just to clarify maybe a bit more since it sounds like you're actually misunderstanding how the program used here even works, let me explain.

The autoclicker is designed in a way where the game 100% performs actions on its own based on what you told the program to do. Once you start it up and have it going, you are 100% incapable of doing anything yourself. You mention over and over again assistance, when the issue that's occurring here isn't assistance, because it doesn't even LET you play while it's active. Hell, you can't use your device at all while it's active, or the bot will stop functioning entirely properly. I don't see how this is capable of helping somebody properly who has disabilities, as I'd assume most people who're truly trying to push for something like that would still want to be playing the game.
