Alliance raids have no business being a relic step.

How many times though do you need to run CT raids to 'revitalize content'? These raids have become an almost daily thing to run in roulette BEFORE relic updates. Now, this is all the crap we get are the CT raids. It's gotten so sickening that now people just leave the raid as soon as they see it's a CT raid. We've already been brow-beaten to death with CT. I don't mind going back to do some older content, but not beginning of the game content we already get forced into on a daily roulette. If you are going to 'hide' new content behind old content, at least spread it out a little bit for the steps. 15 loathsome memories? Okay, fine - don't just stop at CT, give me other ways even if it's in Leveling, Normal or Trial roulettes. 36 more? POTD? Really? Cmon...

What irks me is how simple a fix this is. Have CT be the one and done method while we farm HW and SB raids, except have Void Ark/Rabanastre drop one, Weeping/Ridarona drop two and Dun Scaith/Orbonne drop three. That at least helps prevent the ilvl cheesing since it will take longer blasting through three Rabanastres than one Orbonne.

Doing old content has never been required for the level 80 relic. It's just a much-requested option for the many people who prefer to do older content instead.

In Stormblood, you were forced to do Eureka instead of older content and a lot of people complained, so they are just addressing those complaints this time.

You can get the tokens elsewhere, and there is only one annoying one time step you gotta do, thats the HW/STB one once, all these other tokens do drop in level 80 content, but you are left the choices to get them multiple ways.

It is a luxury these ways and I cant see the problems with having to DO the HW + STB step once?!? everything else is barred behind level 80 content with ways of getting items below level 80... uh

It's an illusion of choice even then. You can spend hours grinding lvl 80 content and/or Fates....or you can do these raids with guaranteed results. Sure you can make the choice...but is it really a choice at all? Not really. I think that's what irked me about this current relic grind the most. The final step was fine though in my opinion with having to run Delubrum Reginae or POTD. But again...illusion of choice. POTD is completely random. DR rewards you with one every time at the end.

I think the point is more that PotD is an easy option anyone can do, while there may be a number of casual players who regard DR to be "too hard" for them.
So it may not be a choice for you, but for soneone who dislikes running 'more difficult' content so much, it's more of a pros v cons thing.

I am being told Castrum is now the more efficient method of getting memories. I'm gonna try my hand at it later. Not really looking forward to sitting in there for an hour waiting for a castrum pop, if I join at a bad time, though.

The drop rate is straight up trash. I've cleared it 37 times, I have not once gotten a hair, a mount, or a barding. I have gotten several duplicate decor, a few orchestrion roles, and a lot of field note. Oh, and I did get like 4 or 5 gold coins in my runs. Nothing I really wanted though. Hopefully the next 15 for RDM give me something I want..

I finally got my 50 run achievement just now, and got The Queen Awakes roll(finally!) still no barding(completely forgot there is one that drops there), and still need one more hair for myself. It really does need a 5% boost to drop rates(most of them are probably already at 1-5% drop rate as is)

My issue is neither one of those is exactly casual friendly. Put one on the daily expert roulette IMHO. Still 2 weeks for the final step if you do it that way.

To have a decent drop rate you have to do floors 100+. For guaranteed drop rate you have to do 150+.

Neither of those is casual friendly.

I understand that the CT raids are now a mandatory part of the story and they need the required number of players to do them, but please why does a good chunk of content have to be tied to them. Let us do HW or SB raids as well. I think at this point I could do any of the CT raids without even looking at my screen.

CT was in no danger of dying with how people cheese the item level every day. I don't quite understand it myself.
